Review: Hada Labo Mask

Bought this hada labo sheet mask in HK to try though I knew it contains alcohol. I realised its rather common to see alcohol in Jap masks. Well, i used to be avoid such mask but I decided to give it a try.

I bought a box, and 1 piece cost me about $3. Again, its cheaper than Singapore. A box of 4 cost nearly $20 if I din remember wrongly.

Result:

Cutting is perfect for my face and adheres well to skin. Mask is very wet, soaked with lotsa essence. Essence is similar to my fave madom beauty mask, gel-like texture, very comfy.

I relised for most of the jap masks, its alway written that mask is recommended to be apply for 5-15min. So I followed the instructions as usual, fearing that my face may be 'over moisturised' and zits will pop out.

After masking, there will be unusally losta of essence left on the face. I wonder if my face absorb in the goodie. But face really look hydrated and soft. After I wipe off some of the left over essence on my face, skin feel smooth.

Verdict: 9/10 Quite like the effects, definitely will re-purchase when I visit HK again!

Review: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sport Sunblock Cooling Mist SPF30

Decided to start searching a new body sunblock mist when I found out that my fave sunplay stop selling the 2 products which I was previously using.

I know its kinda weird bt Im allergic to some sunblocks like banana boat, i reckon its bcos the spf is too high, Hence, I will not purchase suncare products which has high spf. Kinda sad huh.. especially when I hope to prevent myself from getting tanned etc.

Spotted this neutrogena sunblock mist for quite some time. This is the only sunblock in a spray form selling locally if i am not wrong.

Its retailing for about $25 but I got it at $17.70 at those shops at AMK central.

Review:

The spray is much stronger as compared to my previous sunplay, sufficient sunblock is being sprayed onto skin each time. Bcos of this, I can apply sunblock quite swiftly and evenly.

Fragrance is rather strong I feel, takes a while before fading.

Left skin quite oily/sticky after usage. This feeling last for quite a while as well.

A very minimal colling feeling when sprayed.

Verdict: 7/10 Dont really like the sticky feeling after usage.

Review: Dejavu Fiberwig Lash Knockout Mascara

Mascara is never my cup of tea, especially with the tedious removing process involved. I always have difficulty removing mascara and the whole process prolly took me more than 10minutes before convincing myself that its totally removed. Hence, I always prefer mascara which can be removed with water.

Bought this mascara in Tokyo, for about $25, roughly the same price as singapore. Got Lash Knockout cos I need volume more than length.

Review:

As you can see from the picture, the applicator is a straight brush, hence its abit hard to reach out to some of my lashes, especially those at the side. Its abit wet and brush tends to have small clumps. No smudging experienced so far.

Im not those who go for dramatic effects so I dont apply multiple layers. Usually I only apply 1 or 2. I only use those battery operated lash heater to curl my lashes.

Can be removed with warm water quite easily.

Verdict: 5/10 A normal mascara I feel, nothing too fantastic.

Review: Fancl Skin Renewal Pack

Bought this skin renewal pack, hoping that it will be the right exfoliator for me. Well, I was wrong again. I reckon Fancl skincare dont really suits me, except their washing powder.

Review: Gel form, have to leave it on for like 5 minutes then massage it off. No obvious after effect i will say. Probably becos im too used to exfoliating products with either micro beads or at least some dead skin coming out when I massage, its hard to imagine that this product is able to rid dead skin.

Verdict: 4/10 For this price and short shelf life of only 2 months, this product is just not for me.

Review: Origins Out of Trouble Mask

Bought this as a package in Hong Kong last Nov. It comes together with their famous Clear Improvement Mask & Drink up Mask. All 3 for$60 only! Its retailing for around $42 each in sg.. HK is really a shopping paradise haha.

Have to leave mask on for 10min before rinsing off.

Review:

The scent of this mask smells like those medicine which I used to put on my tiny ulcers in my mouth. similar to the clear improvement mask, a tingling sensation can be felt once applied, but its nothing too unpleasant as usual. Very cooling once rinsed off. Zits look less red after usage. Can be easily rinsed off as well.

I always applied hydrating mask after using this mask. I think when combined with Clear improvement mask, they more or less keep some zits at bay. Won't irritate zits even if i applied on them.

Verdict: 8/10 Worth trying if you've pimple prone skin like me!

Review: Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm

Got to know this lip balm when I was looking at dior website for the swaeovski necklace lip gloss which was introduced in early 2010. I simply adore the balm's casing! So elegant..I laid my hands on it in Nov at Changi Dutyfree. It was a few bucks cheaper than town. Lip balm was retailing at $41 at Dior counters.

This lip balm claims to responds to the color chemistry of our lips to create a shade thats uniquely yours. It comes with spf 10 as well.

Result: After application, you can see your lips slowly turning pink haha. Rather natural. Lips stay moisturised for hours too! Since it gives lips color, be sure to apply evenly.

Verdict: 9/10 A rather impressive lip balm thats worth to spurgle once in a while.

Review: DHC Olive Hand Cream

Bought this hand cream when I visited Tokyo earlier in May. Well, Im a sucker for hand cream and of cos when I saw this going for less than $10, I grabbed it almost immediately haha. If I did not remember wrongly, its retailing @ 500-600yen.

Review:

Cream texture which smells a little weird. I guess its probably the olive, but its definitely not unpleasant and overwhelming.

Hands looked oily after usage but did not left my hands feeling smooth.

An average handcream I would say, nothing too fantastic.

Verdict: 6/10

Though hands looked oily and did not felt smooth, but it did moisturised my hands in a way haha. Hands did not feel dry after usage like some lousy handcream.

Review: Origins Clear Improvement Mask

Heard some good reviews from friends around me for this mask. Since my ahava deep cleansing mask is finishing, i decided to give this origins mask a try. I glad i did haha.

Origins is cheaper in HK as compared to Sg. For more details on Origins products, pls refer to my previous post.

Review:

No unpleasant smell detected. Its rather easy to apply, not too watery etc. According the the Sales assistant, i gotta leave it on for 20-30min. Its very much more time consuming as compared to my Ahava's deep cleansing mask. So I make sure I bring a magazine to the toilet whenever I use this mask LOL.

After I covered my face with 'charcoal', there was a slight 'burning' sensation. I dont really know how to describe the feeling, but it was not very uncomfortable I promise. As in I will feel something, maybe a little warm?! Cos when I was using Ahava, I experience none of this. Well, my sensitive face don react negatively to this mask so I guess the sensation is normal.

This charcoal mask can be rinsed off easily too. This is the part which Im worried about at first. Bcos its black in color, it made my rinsing job easier since I can easily spot which are the areas I've not yet wash etc. This can be a little tricky when I am using the Ahava mask previously, esp when I am not wearing my glasses.

Face looked significantly brighter after usage! A little tight but still bearable after rinse, so I always make sure I do a hydrating mask after this charcoal mask! face felt smooth. Pores seemed to look smaller as well haha!

Verdict: 9/10 My fave deep cleansing mask at the moment! 1 point deducted cos the 20min wait is kinda long esp when I am left tired and sleepy after work everyday. So I usually only use mask once a week. NExt will be the weird sensation I feel upon application.

Review: Loreal Paris Smooth Intense Anti Frizz Serum Leave In

Bought this hair serum cos I saw alot of magazines recommending it, won a couple of awards in those magazines' hall of fame as well.

Rather affordable, selling at around $15 @ watsons if i am not wrong. Its also available @ cold storage, guardian etc.

Result:

Smells nice though I find it a bit too strong sometimes. Texture of serum is some sort oil I feel, abit oily if I were to use too much.

Serum did help to tame frizzy hair quite a bit but it will cause my hair to be a bit oily if I use too much of it. So Ive to be really careful with the amount I use. A 50cent coin size will be enough for my short hair.

Hair felt soft and quite smooth for the whole day too.

Verdict: 8/10 1 worth trying for the results and price.

Review: Mandom Beauty Barrier Repair Hyaluronic Acid Mask (New)

Long time since my last post. Was away quite some time for a camp, glad I enjoyed it.

Anyway, this is the new edition for mandom beauty HA mask! Ive previously reviewed about mandom beauty masks. They used to have 3 kinds, now they only have the super moist & Hyaluronic acid. I only bought the latter cos I reckon super moist will be too heavy for me, just like their Q10 mask previously.

Its available @ adambeauty. I got mine during my last HK trip, 5 for 70hkd, which is slightly more expensive as compared to their previous version.

No coloring, No preservatives and no added fragrance.

Result:

Though the packaging etc is different now, im glad it still work wonders for me! Essence in gel form, really comfy. mask fits my face perfectly!

I think the moisturising effect is better compared to their previous one, face felt more smooth the next morning and skincare glided on more easily.

As usual, not so much of brightening effect in my opinion. But face do look refined after usage!

Verdict: I like it! 10/10

Review: Bihada Ichizoku 美肌一族 Hyaluronic Acid Mask

Bought this mask for $8/pc @ sasa. Really expensive for a mask, in fact my most expensive one so far. But I saw quite a few positive reviews for it so I decided to give it a try.

Main ingredients: Diptoassium Glycyrhizate, allantoin, Trehalose, opunia streptacan tha stem extract, collagen, soya bean extract, aloe, pueraria lobata root extract, methylparaben, alcohol

MAsk claims to Balance the water to oil ratio. contains pearl ingredients, hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed collagen and 3 types of seaweed extract ( Red, brown and green algae) for instant elasticity repairment to fight aging, whitening effect

Result:

Mask was really wet and material felt comfy on skin. The cut was great too, 1 of the best for me so far. Scent was ok, pretty decent and not overwhelming, I dont think mask has added fragrance.

Face felt hydrated, but not too much of a brightening effect. Next morning, face felt soft and smooth and skincare glided on easily.

Verdict: 6.5/10

For this kind of price, I expect better results. But I guess this mask dint able to satisfy me :(

Hong Kong Skincare & Cosmetics Price List!

Yes, Im back from my Hong Kong trip!

As usual, lots of loots from HK =p

I've previously wrote a post on buying skincare & cosmetics in HK a few months back, I will do a update on the prices and stuff available in HK now.

I will start with stuff @ Sasa first. I've learnt my lession from my previous trip, ALWAYS go SASA 1st before shopping @ HK departmental stores. Sasa is always cheaper!

Here's a rough guide to some of the items sold @ hk sasa:

- L'occitane cherry blossom hand cream 30ml @ hkd60 ( sgd10). The loccitane shop in HK is selling 3 30ml for 210hkd.
- Biotherm 360deg eye roll on @ 232hkd (40sgd). singapore is selling it @ $69!
- Shu Uemura cleansing oil 500ml @ 440hkd ( sgd70+)
- laneige sleeping mask @ hkd158 ( sgd30+)
- elizabeth arden 8hr handcream, 30ml tube @ hkd120 ( sgd20)
- h20+ oasis @ less than hkd300 ( less than sgd50)

Silk whitia is rather expensive in HK. I still think the $1.95/pc offer in Sg is cheaper. Sasa in hk seems to have more taiwan & Japanese masks as compared to korean masks i feel. They have sexylook, kracie ( not the ones that are available in sg), my beauty diary, ELG, hada labo, aqau moist, hisamitsu, silk whitia, clear turn, mandom beauty, skinlite. They dont have alot of Jap masks actually.. so for this trip, I stocked up my mandom beauty (new formula).

The lucky me met the SOGO xmas sale again! I met the anniversary sale in May too haha.

As usual, the price diff for shiseido items in HK is not big compared to SG. I think its almost the same price there even when sgd is strong now.

Origins is found in HK too. From causeway bay mtr station to Sogo, origins can be found on the way there. Clear improvement + drink up mask + out of trouble package is only selling @ hkd415 ( sgd70)! single tube is hkd210.

I found the highly raved bioderma @ hk guardian too! I saw from cosme that their makeup remover is very popular in taiwan.. so when I saw the xmas package i just cant resist it! 3 bottles ( 100ml, 250ml, 500ml) is retailing @ hkd299 ( sgd50)!! a single bottle of 500ml costs hkd240. I was rather skeptical about it cos that package was totally too good to be true. So i went on to check the expiry date, only to know that it expired in 2013. So i went ahead to buy it :)

Sofina is available @ sogo too. They are famous for their sunblocks..

Review: Kracie CO Q10 Mask

This is my last pc of mask from the kracie range. This Q10 mask targets firming since it consists of Q10.

Review:

Essence is milky and thick, which I dont really fancy. But the cut is good, and mask is soaked with loads of essence. No significant scent.

After usage, face felt a bit sticky. but face felt soft and supple. Quite hydrating too. Face was radiant and smooth the next morning though I slept at 2am. Skincare glide on easily the next day too.

Verdict: 8/10

Though essence felt a bit thick for me, but the effects were pretty good. I realised for some masks, their effects can be better gauged after a night while some produce immediate effects.

I just tried the highly raved 美肌一族 ( Bihada Ichizoku) Hyaluronic acid mask. Look out for my review :)

Review: Kracie Pore Tightening Black Mask

Bought this black mask along with some other kracie when its retailing @ $1.95/pc @ watsons a few months back. A box of 5 is actually retailing @ $18.90, so $1.95/pc is really a bargain.

Tried and reviewed the whitening & moisturising mask sometime ago, was not that impressed with this range of masks so far. The black mask is prolly the best one out of the 3 to me.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Onsen-Sui, Glycerin, PEG-75, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Methylparaben, Methyl Gluceth-20, Potassium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Polyglyceryl.

Review:

Similar to shills charcoal mask, this kracie mask is black in color too. The texture of the mask is much smoother as compared to shills'. Mask was well soaked with essence, though its stated 18ml on the packaging.

The cut of this mask is perfect! Fits my face nicely.

After usage, it did not irritate my zits, face was left quite smooth, no sticky feeling, quite hydrated, no brightening effects though. Face din really look very refined after masking.

Face was less oily the next day, and a few of my red bumps actually reduced in size. I realise charcoal mask always do wonders for my face haha.

Verdict: 8/10

I still think shills perform better than this charcoal mask in terms of price & effects. But wellm i think it deserves a score of 8.

Review: Galady Fragrance Hair Spray

I bought this hair spray when i was in tokyo, at the rankingqueen store @ shinjuku station. It was ranked no2 for the hair section. Because I cant really read jap, I am not sure if its ranked no2 among all hair products or only among the fragrance hair sprays. I bought it for around 15ooyen if i din remember wrongly.

I was interested in sexygirl fragrance hairspray after miao introduced to me. I thought such fragrance hair sprays are very handy especially when I go to hawker to have my lunch almost everyday. But I got this hair spray instead since it was highly rated in tokyo. I shall do a product comparison if i were to try sexygirl in future.

Result:

This hair spray smells really nice! But I dont think the scent is lasting, or probably because I've short hair, so I cant really smell it haha. But I think it does helps to rid the food smell a bit.

After spraying, hair felt really smooth for a moment. But it does not helps to tame flyaway hair. Not that moisturising either. But well, we cant really expect the fragrance hairspray to work like a hair serum right?

Verdict: 8/10

This is my 1st fragrance hair spray. As long as the scent is nice, I think it has does it job haha. Moreover, after spraying, my hair did feel softer and smoother after spraying, though that effect din last long.

Review: Anna Sui Face Color Accent Review

Bought this anna sui blusher when I went to Hong Kong in May. It is slightly cheaper in HK as compared to Singapore. SG is probably retailing @ close to $40 if I dint remember wrongly.

I got color 300. I always prefer my make up to be minimal, so miao suggested that I go for something lighter so I can add the intensity easily.

The main reason to why I got this blusher is simply because of the gorgeous packaging!! I've always been a fan of Anna Sui's products, since I couldnt use their foundation cos I think its meant more for dry skin rather than oily skin, the next thing to target is their blusher. Moreover, the online reviews for their blusher were quite promising.

Review:

There is added fragrance as usual, I love the signature rose scent! Even though I only have 2 Anna Sui products (blusher & eyeshadow) in my make up box, but whenever I open my box, I could smell the rose scent. Simply love the scent.

The brush given was soft and enables me to apply the blusher easily. Friends told me they can see the blusher applied on my face (finally) and was natural.

I personally feel its rather lasting too.

Verdict: Love it to bits!

This is only my 2nd blusher so I cant really compare. But for me, as long as the color suits me, intensity can be build easily, natural, lasting and din give me zits, its a good blusher to me. Moreover, the packaging is nice.

Review: DHC Make Off Sheet

Bought this DHC make off sheet (50 sheets) in tokyo. It was retailing at 630Yen (around sgd 10), refill is 525Yen. the DHC make off sheet packaging in HK looks different from the one in Tokyo. Not sure if its the same composition of ingredients. They are similar in price though. Both are not available in SG currently too.

Result:

The size of this make off sheet is about 3/4 to that of simple remover sheets. Sheet is very wet, more wet than simple's. No fragrance or alcohol detected.

Sheet texture is smoother as compared to simple too. I find simple sheets too rough for face.

I tried removing foundation with this sheet. Have to wipe a few times before it thoughly removes foundation. No sticky feeling after usage. Gentle enough for my sensitive skin.

Verdict: 9/10

Smooth enough to be used on skin. Gentle enough for my sensitive skin too! Cleansing power is quite good. Too bad its not available in SG. I intend to buy the HK DHC make off sheet when i visit HK in 2 weeks time :)

Review: Etude House Green Tea Mask

Bought it from sunnanz when I was looking for pimple mask a few months back. well, ever since i found skin vitals tea tree mask, I dint bother trying other pimple mask after tt.

Found this mask in my storage box, so I decided to finish it off haha.

Got it for $1.7o/pc. It claims to purify skin. Do note there is added fragrance & alcohol in the ingredient list.

Result:

Mask is moderately wet, slightly too big for my face. Cant really detect the alcohol and scent.

Hydration effect was so-so, but it did look slightly brighter. No sticky feeling. I realise I always experience brightening effect from purifying mask.

Verdict: 7/10

An average mask I feel, nothing too fantastic. I prefer masks with specific function. this mask is like in between. Not super hydrating, brightening is minimal, as for purifying, im not too sure since I don have any pimples then.

Review: Dress Me 就是爱美丽 Moisturising & Refreshing Mask

Bought this Dress Me mask yest at Sasa to replenish my mask instocks at home. Ever since I started working, I realised I mask more reguarly, without fearing that my mask will be 'too' moisturised cos the aircon in my office never fails to dry my face I feel. Moreover, my face became less pimple prone lately. *touch wood* My masks are depleting and before I stock them up again in HK in Nov, I better try more masks at Sasa so I will know what I can buy there haha.

The SA recommended me Dress Me masks. Its 2 in a packet, for $4.20. There are a few choices, like whitening, oil control etc. I got the one for moisturising.

Its available at sunnanz too. Its cheaper than Sasa too.

Result:

Cute polka dots packaging. No alcohol & fragrances added. Ingredients include aloe vera, leamon fruit extract, kiwi extract & Squalane. I remembered Squalane is one of the star ingredients found in HABA products. I think Squalane has moisturising properties.

Mask is quite wet, soaked with essence. Material is close to pulp, similar to those korean masks which claimed they are made with 100% pulp material. Mask adheres well to skin, fits my face quite nicely too.

Scent isnt strong, rather mild.

After masking for 10minutes or so, face looks significantly brighter! After massaging remaining essence, face felt soft but not super smooth kind. A little sticky too though still bearable. Face looked refined.

Face was less oily and looked radiant the next morning, but I seem to secrete more oil in the afternoon.

Verdict: 10/10 For this price, i think this mask is great for brightening and hydration effect is not too bad too!

Review: Ettusais Eye Color C BE1

Another review for eye shadows :)

Ettusais Eye color C BE1 is the 1st eye shadow which I bought for myself. It was retailing at $19 at the ettusais counter.

When I knew how much kanebo Coffret D'or ($16/color) was retailing for, I kinda regretted buying the ettusais one oops. Coffret D'or being more popular and famous for their eye shadows, was actually cheaper than Ettusais', was the reason why I regretted buying ettusais eye color at 1st. Well, Im glad the experience with etttusais eye color was rather good, hence making me feel much better.

Result:

BE1 was a very shimmery yellow beige, close to white/silver eye color. I used it as a base color.

When applied onto eye lids, color was not really obvious, but it was rather shimmery, with a pearlie effect. even the short sighted JX (100 degrees) can see the shimmers without her specs on in the dim lighting at Sakae. But she felt that the shimmers was acceptable, dint make me look too loud or what. I agreed with her, im not those who likes thick or loud make up in the 1st place.

Even when layered, color was still not obvious.

The color or should i say the shimmers was rather lasting as well, though ive slightly oily eye lids. Not flaky as well.

Verdict: 8.5/10

I hope the color would be a little more intense, if not it seems like im applying shimmers onto my eye lids. but the texture wise was great, smooth.

Review: Silk Whitia Highly Concentrated Collagen Gel Mask

After the great experience with silk whitia mask, I bought another one to try from this range. Its the gel mask this time. After trying out mandom beauty gel mask, I fell in love with the gel like texture sheet mask.

Silk whitia can be found at the Sasa outles. I usually only wait till when there is a offer before I stock them up. If not a box of 5 will cost like $20+.

Result:

Mask was really wet, cutting and scent was similar to the previous silk whitia. Only difference was the texture of the essence. For this purple range, its more towards gel and was really comfy when applied.

Face felt more hydrated compared to the green one. Face was soft and supple after usage. Face looked radiant and smooth the next morning, skincare glide onto skin easily.

Verdict: Another great product! In fact, i prefer this to the green one :)

Review: Mandom Beauty Barrier Repair Q10 Mask

Another mask from Mandom beauty. Got it from Hong Kong Sasa too. Each piece is around $2 or less. it used to be available at adambeauty, but now they dont have it already :(

Result:

Similar to the previous mandom beauty mask which i've review, the essence from this mask is also gel-like, very comfy on the skin. Mask was very wet, soaked with lotsa of essence. Both masks smelled similar too, reminds me of low sugar soya bean milk haha.

Mask adhers well to skin with eye flaps. Face was felt soft and hydrated, though a little sticky compared to the hydrating mask from the same range.

Verdict: 8/10

Great mask though a little sticky after masking. Face was less oily the next day.

Review: Kanebo Coffret D'or

Was crazy over eyeshadow lately so I bought Kanebo Coffret D'or during Metro 20% sale 2 months ago.

The color that I bought are: BZ-04 & BR-72. It was retailing for about $16 each if I dint remember wrongly.

Result:

I applied only eye cream before the eye shadow. I dont have the habit of layering foundation or concealer ove my eye lids.

Both colors are rather sheer and can be layer for intensity. I find this good for a beginner like me cos I can decide how intense I want my color to be.

When applying, there isnt any flakes all over my eye area. I remembered seeing some flakes at my eye areas when I did a makeover at some other brand counter.

Its not those super shimmery kind as well, just nice I feel. Lasted long too though I've slightly oily eye lids. Unlike the previous anna sui eye shadow which ive reviewed earlier, this eye shadow dint crease.

Overall I feel its quite a good eyeshadow which has gd lasting power.

Review: Skinvitals A-whiten mask

Bought this single piece when I saw it on offer for $2.95 at Watsons some time back. A box of 3 costs $13.95, there hasnt been much offer for skinvitals lately. I m waiting for their next offer to stock my T-purify.

It contains arbutin, chamomile and grape seed oil.

Result: As usual, mask was rather wet, essence dripping. mask of cloth material, felt smooth on my face. Scent was natural but I kinda hate it. I think its smells rather bad though bearable. I dono how to describe the scent though, it just smells weird.

Face dint really feel smooth, though its slightly brighter, quite hydrated too.

Verdict: 6.5/10

one of the few whitening mask which my face did not feel itchy after masking. But the brightening effect dint manage to impress me.

Review: Hisamitsu Lifecella Hydrating Mask

Bought this mask at Sasa when I was in HK. I remember it was around $2/mask. Dint see it in sg though.

There are a few choices for this mask, as usual, i got the hydrating one. I think there are firming and whitening ones available for this range.

Result:

Cant detect any scent, mask was quite wet. It adheres quite well to my face too. Face felt hydrated but not those very impressive kind i feel.

Verdict: 7/10

I think its a not bad mask, not sure if im going to repurchase though since its not readily available in SG.

Review: Sunsilk Hair Serum

Bought this hair serum when I saw it on offer for $1.95 at Guardian. I thought it was convenient since it was a small bottle thats very portable.

Result:

Its like a lotion texture, scent was rather strong, not too bad but not my fave though. Doesnt really help to tame my frizzy hair and I felt it wasnt moisturising enough for my hair.

Verdict: 6/10

Love the fact that is really portable, but it dint do much for my hair.

Review: Ellips Hair capsules

Bought this hair capsules for my grad trip some time ago. Like the idea that its very portable and travel friendly.

6 capsules for $1.95 is not exactly cheap though. Available at Watsons locally. Came in a few colors, all for different effect. Cant remember the red one is for what though oops.

Result:

I HATE the SCENT!! it smells so chemical and overwhelming.

Its very thick gel texture, hair will clump together when applied too much. Dont really smooth frizzy hair too. I find it best when applied to hair thats semi dry.

Verdict: Not worth the price and I really hate the scent!

Bought this eye mask when I went HK a few months back. Cant really remember the price but a pair doesnt cost more than $2. Available at Sasa.com but not at the local sasa outlets.

Result:

Its sheet type eye mask, mask is soaked with lotsa essence.

Dont really smell anything upon application as well.

Eyes look hydrated, fresh and slightly brighter after usage. No bumps etc the next day.

Verdict: 8/10

Not too bad, but would prefer something that can brighten up my eyes.

Review: Herbacin Wuta Kamille + Glyzerin Hand Cream

Was introducing this brand Herbacin in my blog some time back after seeing some great reviews at Urcosme.

I bought the 20ml tube to try 1st and now, Im back with the review!

Result:

There is added fragrance and I wasnt too used to the scent in the beginning. But after using it daily, I got used to it. It can be rather overwhelming at first, towards the powdery floral scent I feel.

The texture is like thick gel rather than cream. After application, it can be absorbed almost immediately, leaving no sticky feeling at all! I dono how to describe the feeling, but its just like you could feel a layer on your hands but not sticky at all. Hands felt moisturised after usage, can last 2 hand washes.

Verdict: 9/10

I would prefer something that smells better haha. But this hand cream really kept my dry hands moisturised, even in air-con room! Very affordable too.

Review: Fancl White Body Milk

Have been hoping to whiten my body all along so that the color difference between my face & body become smaller. Therefore, I bought Fancl white body milk when I was in tokyo back in May.

It was slightly cheaper in Tokyo, retailing for 1260Yen, I managed to get it at a further 10% discount cos there was some kind of a promotion going on then. Its retailing at $22 for a bottle of 150ml here in sg.

Result:

As usual, no fragrance detected for fancl products. But i do think it smells like one of my facial skincare. Scent wasnt strong anyway.

Lotion was rather light & watery, but takes a while to be fully absorbed. After application, skin felt smooth and soft.

Once opened, lotion has to be finished within 2 months. I used it diligently for the past 1.5mths, then I became lazy due to work. But i still managed to use up to 85%. So I think its really possible to finish a bottle within 2 months. I applied it on both hands, and upper thighs & feet (the area which is exposed when I wear my covered shoes).

Now, so hows the whitening result? Yes, it worked for me!! I'm very sure cos I saw the difference on both my feet. My feet became darker than my toes when I went under the sun a 3 months back. Then after applying the lotion for 1 mth, I realised it whiten them a little, even out the tone too. I believe with continuous usage, my feet will be back to my origina color heh.

Verdict: 10/10

My main motive of buying it is to whiten, since product does its job, what more can i expect? Well, i do hope it can be slightly cheaper though haha

Received the sample when I bought the hair lotion and body lotion from nature republic some time ago.

Though samples are mini bottles, but they lasted at least 10 times usage! I dint use it on my face again (I am very particular about stuff being applied on my face lol), i applied them on my neck.

The booster is watery gel like texture. Was absorbed by my neck within seconds! Love it. Skin felt smooth after application.

The emulsion is very light as well. Kept my neck moisturised though im not sure if it helps in anti-aging. After usage, neck felt smooth and hydrated.

Verdict: 8.5/10

Review: Beauty Talk Idebenone Hydrating Mask

Bought this mask when I saw it on offer at Sasa, was selling for $1.95/pc. There are 3 flavors if im not wrong, Q10, whitening etc. I chose the hydrating one. If im not wrong, this brand is from taiwan.

Result:

I dont like the scent of this mask, smelled very chemical for some reason. Glad it was not too overwhelming when I applied mask.

Mask is rather big for my face. Comes with eye flaps.

Mask is rather wet. Applied it after exfoliation but still, essence dont seem to absorb well. No significant brightening effect. Face just felt hydrated but was still oily next morning.

Verdict: 6/10

A so-so hydration mask I thought.

Review: Kose Softymo Super Eye Make Off

I got to know this eye remover from a beauty book by 伊能静。haha. I bought it when i saw it in China a few years back. Then I read about it at Cosme and realised it was very popular and was voted no1 for many years. Again, it ended up on my wishlist when I was in tokyo.

It came in 2 sizes,120ml and 230ml. i bought the 120ml, cost me less than $10, cant really remember the price. It available at adambeauty.

This remover does not contain alcohol, fragrance and coloring.

Result:

The texture is very similar to emulsion, or gel like texture. Very comfy on the eyes. I cant detect any scent at all.

I wet my cotton with quite a bit of the remover and it removes my mascara (fiberwig), eye liner (ettusais) & eye shadow (anna sui & kanebo) well. Though sometimes it may need a few swipes. Its really gentle, does not sting my sensitive eyes at all! Wont leave oily film or whatsoever.

Verdict: 9/10

I really love it! its gentle but I do hope the cleansing powder can be slightly higher.

Well, I will say nothing much this issue after flapping through.

The freebie this month is Kleenex oil blotter (15pc)! I wrote a review previously, those who are keen can get the magazine.

Ettusais has 2 new products this month! They really have lotsa new stuff every month. Its a duo foundation, apply the lighter shade on the t-zone to keep our face matt for longer hours. The darker shade is applied all over our faces.

Well, I spurgle on maquillage UV lasting powder so I most probably will give this a miss =p

the other new product is the limited edition aqua splash moist (pink bottle). the previous spray was aqua splash OB to absorb sebum, and this limited edition id for moisturiser.

Review: Anna Sui Eye Color Accent 103

I bought this in HK, as a package, consisting blusher etc. But I am pretty sure Anna Sui is cheaper in Hk as compared to Japan & Singapore.

I was into eye shadow lately, so I really bought a lot of eye shadow products.

Result:

The color i bought was 103, looks like dark blue, but when applied, it turned out to be greyish black, nowhere close to blue. A mini brush was included.

As usual, Anna Sui smells really great haha! Even when i kept them in their original boxes, put them in my make up box, I could smell it whenever i open the box. Not sure if its bcos I've 3 Anns Sui products in it haha.

From the ingredient list, I saw aloe, olive, raspberry, grape seed oil, salicylic acid.

Bcos of the color, I decided to use it as an eye liner, rather than a eye shadow. I tried using the brush given by Anna Sui to draw the line, but its abit hard to control so i use another brush I have, with a more pointed tip.

For my eyes, I dont have the habit of applying foundation over them. Usually, I will only apply my ettusais eye cream then I will go ahead with the eye shadow. I dont have an eye primer currently. I don apply sunblock or makeup base too. I dont like having so many products for my eyes since its a delicate area.

So I will just try to draw a line near my lashes with this eye shadow. It wont look as black or dark like eye liner, very subtle but still can be seen. if i want it to be darker, I can easily add on too. So its very easy for me to correct my mistakes, especially for beginners like me.

However, after applying a few times, I realise its not lasting. I dont know why my eye lids became more oily than usual, and it will start to smudge a little. the color will be less obvious after like 5 hours. I will invest on urban decary eye primer soon, hopefully the situation will improve.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Well, I feel the color is great as a liner, not too dark, and to me, its easier to draw as compared to a eye liner. But too bad, it smudge a little and not very lasting. If situation improve with a eye primer, i will update the score again.

Review: Shiseido Moilip Lip Balm

Phew~ have not been updating my beauty blog >.< Cos life has been really busy, almost upside down since i started working.

Anyway, the star for today will be shiseido moilip lip balm! I bought it when i was in Tokyo a couple of months ago. this lip balm was on my wishlist after knowing this was voted no1 at cosme in 2009. I always love trying new lip products haha!

I got it at drugstore for about 600+ yen, roughly SGD12 for 8g. It available at adambeauty, retailing at hkd97, exclusive of shipping feels etc. I think it will add up to about Sgd20.

the packaging was really ugly i though haha. thats one thing they should improve on i feel.

Result:

This lip balm contains vitamin B6 and E.

After application, there is a minty and cooling feeling, last for less than 5minutes only.

The texture is very similar to vaseline, slightly thicker though, yellowish transparent color. Personally, I dont really fancy the texture cos i prefer something more liquid, easier for application. After applying, lips wont feel oily at all! I though vaseline is more oily instead. It feels very light on the lips!

I tried using it in office, I only need to re-apply once or twice for 9hours :) My lips dont peel as often compared to the past.

Verdict: 10/10

I love it! It really kept my lips moisturised! Though i dont really like the texture, but it really works for my lips! Price was affordable too.

Review: Nature Republic Shine Flower Moisture Hair Lotion

This will probably be my last product from Nature Republic. Tried their facial masks, hand masks etc, only the body lotion was slightly above average, the rest were quite disappointing, at least for me.

This shine flower is a moisturising hair lotion/emulsion (195ml). I bought it at $18, mainly bcos of the pretty purple bottle!

nature republic has only 2 outlets in singapore currently, 1 at bishan junction 8, the other at somerset 313.

Result:

The scent wasnt that bad, but not that fantastic either. Smells like those usual hair wax i feel. But it really feels like lotion, texture is light and not oily. Sometimes i applied a little too much, but this lotion still wont made my hair look sticky etc.

But its not making my frizzy hair better, not too moisturising either.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Was slightly expensive i thought though the bottle was huge. Not that useful when you've frizzy hair here and there like me.

But after the not-so-fantastic experience with their facial masks, i decided to give it a miss. I shall consider again if some1 is willing to share with me haha. I am currently more interested in shiseido maquillage rouge & their compact haha.

I saw the tofu sponge made in japan too. Miao was telling me last week that she bought it haha. I dint manage to see the price, but i guess its quite costly since its retailing at around 800yen. So it should be around $12 i guess. This tofu sponge comes in 3 shapes. It was voted the no1 at cosme a few years ago. Its meant for the application of liquid foundation.

Neutrogena hydro boost is selling at $2.95/pc, their new version whitening mask is selling at $1.95/pc too.

Review: Dermal Charcoal Collagen Essence Mask

This was the last dermal mask i had at home. As usual, price is $1.95, can be found at Watsons.

As stated on the packaging, I was kinda shocked to know that this mask is meant for soothing.

Result:

As compared to the cucumber essence mask, this material for this mask is slightly thicker. For the scent and cutting of this mask, it was similar to the cucumber essence mask.

After usage, face felt slightly hydrated, no brightening effects, pores looked the same too, not much of a difference.

Verdict: 6/10

Just an average mask, nothing special. Not really hydrated and not so much of a soothing effect i feel. With the price, i suppose there are better ones in the market.

Review: MAC DazzleGlass Lipgloss

Have been really busy for this whole week. Hopefully things will get better soon. :)

Ok back to review. Dazzleglass is my 1st lip gloss. My lips are rather thick so I'm worried that applying glossy stuff will made them look worse :( Thats the main reason why all along I dint wanna try lipgloss. But I'm glad I went ahead and gave dazzleglass a try.

I bought dazzlegass when i went HK in May. I got it at 150 or 160 HKD at the airport, cant remember the exact price. Its retailing at around SGD35 if I am not wrong.

The name of the color I bought was smile.

Result:

It was a really sheer color. I'm new to make up and always want it to be as natural as possible. Really glad the MAC assistant managed to recommend the right color for me.

It was not those super shimmery kind, the shimmers are just right, dint made my lips look thicker too hehe. Color was natural and close to my lip color, not those super red kind. I dont think the texture is very sticky too. The brush applicator that comes with the lipgloss was quite 'stiff' when I 1st used it, but it became soft after 2-3 times usage. The brush makes application fuss-free, color goes on smoothly and my lips looked really moisturised after application, doesnt emphasize the lines on the lips.

I dint see any fragrance added in the ingredient list, but this lipgloss really smells nice lol.

The 1st time i used it, i applied anna sui lipbalm under it and my lips became very dry after like 5hours. The 2nd time i applied Vaseline and it was much better. Do note that i dint touch up in between, I dint reapply lipbalm or dazzleglass.

I eat and drink as per normal and the lipgloss stayed for only perhaps 3-4hours.

Verdict: 9/10

I really love the color and how natural the shimmers were.

Review: Ettusais Medicated Acne Real Fit Concealer

I bought this concealer when I was trying to learn make up a few months ago. I thought concealer was 1 of the must-have item in the pouch other than foundation.

This concealer is retailing at $36, 3 shades available. I am using the lightest shade, 10 ivory. As usual, its medicated, suitable for acne prone skin. I dont know why, I just feel that using this concealer, I can conceal and treat my zits at the same time haha. This concealer is meant to for open pores, blemishes and acne scars.

Result:

It comes with a spatula, whereby I have to turn the round thingy at the bottom then the liquid will come out from the spatula. I usually will dab it with my fingers and apply directly to my blemishes rather than using the spatula directly on my face.

I dint detect any scent.

I only apply on scars and red bumps, not zits with pus. I will dab abit of the concealer on the blemish, then dab lightly with fingers to blend. Well, for those lighter scars, it can more or less conceal, but for those darker or brown ones, this concealer cant do much. Sometimes on darker scars i will apply 2 layers, it wont cake too.

The good thing is it wont irritate my red bumps and make them worse after application.

Verdict: 7.5/10

I have some dark red scars and this concealer just cant do the job. I hope I am not expecting too much from a concealer haha. But i am glad it dint give me more zits or irritate them further. Shade was suitable for me, i realised ettusais foundation shades and concealer suit me perfectly, at least i need not worry about the color etc. For a beginner like me, this product is easy to use.

Review: Ettusais Medicated Acne Gentle Wash

I wrote a short review on this soap when i was doing an overall brand review for ettusais some time ago.

Well, I tried this soap cleanser again lately and felt that it deserves a full review on its own again haha.

This soap cleanser is formulated with AC Control Oil. this soap forms a rich, creamy lather ( I agree!). With a “cushion effect”, the bubbles remove dirt and old sebum cells from the skin, leaving it dewy fresh without any feeling of tightness. Its oil-free.

I tried this cleanser again lately cos my face was in bad shape since i came back from tokyo in May.

This soap is retailing at $20 without casing. For hygiene purposes, I think its better to get a casing for this soap. I got mine free when i purchased the full sized soap 3years ago. It was on promotion so ettusais was giving away free casing & foam ball.

Result:

1 full sized soap can last at least 6months ( last longer if you use it with foam ball i feel) so its really affordable.

I can smell sulphur when i hold the soap close. But I dont really detect any scent when i cleanse my face with the foam created though.

With the foam ball, I can create lotsa foam within seconds. Foam are rather thick and dense (Fancl is still thicker though), so I cant really feel my zits when i was massaging the foam over my face. Sorta like a cushion effect. So the foam was quite comfy. I like the cushion feel haha. This foam is thicker than the dhc salicylic acne wash which i've reviewed earlier.

The foam can be rinse off easily. Face was left clean soft, the dish clean feel if you understand what i meant. not the soft and smooth kind like fancl washing powder. Face feel tight sometimes so I only use once a day. I will use Fancl at night.

After using this soap for nearly 3 months, I really have lesser breakouts. Though i still suffer a few here and there when my period is coming.

Verdict: 8.5/10

Points deducted cos sometimes its too drying for me and i still think soap is not very hygienic haha.

But its still worth a try cos it really helps to combat zits! Price is really affordable too :)

Ettusais always have samples for this cleanser so make sure you can one before buying! the sample sized soap can last at least a week!

Make Up tips From 女人我最大

have been watching the famous taiwanese variety show, 女人我最大 on scv lately. Was more interested cos I hope to learn more about make up application haha.

Learnt something interesting about the application of liquid foundation. To have more natural make up, be it radiant or what, simply mix skincare with our liquid foundation :) Ive heard of this tip before but have not tried it since i do not have liquid foundation at home.

The make up artist in the show was saying, by doing this, we can add skincare benefits to make up. If you wanna have more radiant and whitening, add whitening products. For more hydration, of cos moisturising products. The proportion will be 1/3 skincare, 2/3 foundation. Too much will affect the coverage of the foundation.

Do choose products that are more watery like emulsion or essence, not cream. Adding watery essence etc, can 'dilute' thicker liquid foundation and make application of foundation easier too. The make up artist mix(massage the foundation & essence on the back of his hands, saying that the heat (our body temperature) on our hands helps mixing both products.

Apply our daily skincare, make up base, liquid foundation ( with added skincare), then loose powder ( so that the foundation can stay longer).

Well, I will try this when i get my 1st liquid foundation haha. That will probably be 2months later when i feel richer hehe.

The other tip is for eye make up. Some of us may have oily eye lids and eye shadows may crease etc. If you wanna save on eye primer, can probably try getting eye shadows of cream texture. Meaning we apply cream eye shadow 1st then the usual powder ones. This will help eye make up to stay longer. Some of those eye palettes in the market already have this combination if you notice. In this case i guess the cream shadow will most probably be the base (lighter color).

Alternatively, you can put a towel in the fridge then take it out to 'cool' the eye lids. This will help to control oil. Do note that opting for ice cubes with towel is a no-no cos that will hurt our skin.

Lastly, apply loose powder on our eye lids hoping to control oil is a no-no too. He said something like if we secrete oil, the loose powder will make the eye make up look worse.

Hmm, seems like im really interested in make up now. Hopefully i will become some expert one day haha.

Review: Kanebo Kracie Ichikami Shampoo & Conditioner

I am back with review for ichikami shampoo & conditioner.

I bought both at $7.90, 200ml each at watsons. I got them one after another cos I think its fairer to gauge ichikami when i use both shampoo & conditioner together. This is the 1st conditioner in my life haha, Cos i have short hair so all along i dont think condi is necesssary for me. Well, i just decided to care more for my hair .

Result:

I have normal scalp, not oily, dry hair. Frizzy hair a bit here and there.

Shampoo claimed to be free from silicon, the ingredient which causes hair loss. But seriously, I dont think its helpful cos I am still dropping quite a bit of hair. Not as much compared to when i was using Loreal ( the shampoo i reviewed previously), slightly lesser only. As for conditioner, they dint state the silicon part so i reckon it contains it.

Shampoo's scent is really nice, more of floral, not too overwhelming as well. The conditioner smells a bit different, not as nice but not too bad too.

Texture of shampoo is towards watery compared to my previous asience. Lather up easily. For the 1st few days, i use it without conditioner cos i haven buy it then. Hair was left smooth and soft. When i started on the conditioner, effect was better. I only use condi once a day and shampoo twice. I realised the conditioner made my fringe a bit too oily sometimes.

It has been nearly 3 weeks since i started using both products, I realised hair is less frizzy as compared to before but still effect not as good as loreal. No doubt hair is left soft, but not smooth enough.

Verdict: Shampoo 6.5/10, conditioner 6/10

I was disappointed by japanese hair products once again, after essential :( Ichikami was much much expensive too, almost twice the price.

I think shampoo fare slightly better than the conditioner.

I was thinking if i should try shiseido tsubaki now since its found in nishino (taka basement). Heard many raves for tsubaki. Nishino has many japanese hair products too, esp shiseido. But after these 2 not so good experiences with jap hair products, I sorta changed my mind. Another review for ELG eye masks. This is one of the limited edition i guess, bought it early this year, cant really remember. Packaging is prettier haha.

I have the ingredient of this mask this time round.

Ingredients:

cucumber extract, aloe, vitamin C, methylparaben, hyaluronic acid, arbutin, rose essential oil, witch extract, lavender, glycerine.

looks impressive.

Result:

For the texture etc, refer to my previous posts on ELG eye mask. I realised this mask is a bit wider than the 4th generation which i tried.

As usual, my eyes look hydrated, brighter and fresh. but still not as good as the golden 4th generation one i feel. This pack does not have so much essence too, not sure isit because its almost 1 year old or what, never encounter this with the rest though.

Review: Mandom Beauty Barrier Repair Hyaluronic Acid Mask

I first saw this mask on Sasa.com, then decided to grab it when i was in hongkong in May. It can be found at the Sasa in Hk, retailing for HK60 ( Around sgd 11) for a box of 5. Currently its not available at any of the stores in Singapore, at least i dint see them around at Watsons & Sasa. We can buy it from sasa.com & adambeauty.com.

There are 3 range available, the hyaluronic acid(blue) for hydrating & pores, Q10 (orange) for firming & the royal jelly for moisturising.

I threw the boxes away cos i wanted to minimise luggage weight then so i dont have the ingredients. But according to adam beauty website, this mask has got no coloring, no fragrance, no preservative, mild enough for sensitive skin.

I realise manufactured dates and expiry dates are always not available for Japanese products bought from HK & japan. Well, since it does not contain preservative, i guess i better finish them up fast in case they expire.

Result:

I tried it 3x so far. Mask has 22ml of essence, was rather wet when i took it out, slightly dripping. This mask comes with eye flaps. Since i dont have the habit of masking my eye lids, I tore the connector so that the eye flaps can be folded down. The connector is just a very small piece of cloth so it was done easily. Eye holes are just nice, i like it.

This mask is similiar to the juju aquamoist mask, the chin and upper lid areas are not connected, so we can adjust it freely. Refer to the picture of the packaging, and if you look carefully at it, the upper lin area has got white 'spaces' in the picture, they are not 'attached', what i meant by not connected. the mask looked exactly like the one on the packaging. I love this detail cos most masks are not fitting for me at the chin area, probably because my face is not very long, though i thought mine is quite long already haha. this gave me an idea that I may wanna cut other masks so that they can adhere better in future haha. The cut of this mask fits me perfectly! Even at the areas near the nose.

Anyway, i detected a very mild soya bean scent when i open the packet. I am quite sure its not like those added fragrance scent, guess its the original scent of the essence. Essence is a little towards gel-like texture, very comfy when i had the mask on me.

After about 13min or so, i removed mask and face look really hydrated, clearer and brighter significantly, pores looked refined (temporarily though) too. I din scrub my face for around 5days already though haha. After massaging the left over essence on my face, face felt quite smooth and moisturised, not sticky at all.

Face was a litle oily this morning, looked quite radiant but not super smooth.

Verdict: 9/10 I love it! Very sure this mask dint give me zits (sometimes its just hard to determine for some masks) and dint irritate my existing ones too. 1 point deducted cos my face was not left super smooth.

the cutting of this mask is great, adhere well to my skin. Though i think its more of a hydrating mask since it contains hyaluronic acid, but i like the fact that my face was brightened up, quite a bit in fact.

i may need to order it through adambeauty in future, probably at $3/pc. Pretty expensive but i love the effects from this mask haha. I make sure i stock this mask when i go HK again!

Review: Kracie Hadabisei Whitening Mask

Another review for kracie mask. the whitening one this time. Bought it for $1.95/pc at taka watsons earlier this month, i dont find them in single packs when i went there last week though.

they are retailing at Watsons for $18.90, for a box of 5pc. Quite expensive i think.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Potassium Hydroxide, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Polysorbate 20, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Citrate, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Lemon (Citrus Medica Limonum) Extract, Soluble Collagen, Alcohol, Job’s Tears (Coix Lacryma-jobi) Extract.

Do note that it contains alcohol and added fragrance.

Result:

The material of this mask was different from the moisturising (red range) which i tried previously. this mask does not have those micro look alike holes on it. The material is those normal ones, a bit stiff, a little hard to adjust, thickness is just right, not really like cotton material ( like skinvitals) though.

The cutting is quite big for my face, but im glad mask adhere quite well on face. Big eye holes, i like! haha.

Essence is 20ml, stated on the mask. When i took it out, its not those dripping kind, moderately wet. Cant detect any scent though fragrance was added.

After like 13min, face did look a little brighter. Essence was not sticky. After massage, essence was absorbed in quite fast. Face felt quite hydrated but dont feel very smooth.

After like 1h, red patches appeared at forehead area again. I realised i tend to have this problem with whitening mask :( Well, i gathered its because of citric acid（果酸）. I have sensitive skin by the way. So those with sensitive skin, you may want to think twice before trying this mask. My red patches were not those serious kind, will go away after a while say 30min or so but its still quite irritating cos its a little itchy. I felt better after spraying avene water too.

I watched those taiwan variety show and understand that sensitive skin has to be careful with 果酸, AHA. I googled online and realised citric acid is one of the 5 main types of AHA found in skincare. AHA helps to get rid of dead skin and activate skin regeneration, hence enhancing essence absorption etc. Thats why some whitening products contain them. Since it contains AHA, I think its best to apply this mask at night cos AHA can increase sun sensitivity.

My face was less oily this morning and looked a bit radiant, 1 new mini zit pop out with another threaten to pop out any moment too.

Verdict:

I only judge it on the whitening/brightening effect, hydration, smoothness etc. Will not penalise it for the red patches it gave me.

I got no choice but to send it to hall of hates cos it gave me zits!

Seems like i do not have much luck with kracie masks. Hopefully the charcoal one will be better.

How To Create Lots of Foam with Cleansers?!

As promised, today's post will be on foam! haha.

I am not sure how many of us out there have got this same problem as me. I always have difficulty creating enough foam with foam cleansers. I used foam cleansers ( those in tube form) for many years, since i was a secondary school kid, all the way to university year 1. I remembered the last one i tried was thefaceshop mung bean cleanser haha. I guess many of us now still do since it was the most common kind of cleansers in our local market.

Well, no1 teached me how to properly lather up etc. What i did was , squeeze about 1.5cm of cleanser onto my wet hands then rub back and forth, then the cleanser will become sorta like a creamy liquid form, I will then massage them onto my face.

Over the years I became more and more crazy about skincare lol, I read magazines, watched beauty variety shows etc, and realised that it is very important to create enough foam while cleansing to ensure that our faces are properly cleansed and yet not too drying for our skin. I came upon fancl washing powder and fell in love with the cushiony foammmm!! :) Since then, I never touch those foam cleansers anymore cos i think they cant provide me the same kinda foam i get from fancl.

I tried ettusais soap cleanser and I managed to create lotsa foam with fancl's foaming ball too. Just roll the ball on the soap for like 10seconds, then squeeze the ball a bit, keep rolling and you will get enough foam. I am not sure how people usually lather up soap cleansers but I find it very easy with fancl foaming ball. I got to know this method cos i was given a foaming ball by ettusais when i purchase their soap 2 years ago. It was on promotion and it came with free casing and foam ball. Since i am a fancl cleanser at the same time, I've got no problem getting their foam ball too. Those who have problem lathering enough with soap cleansers can try this method. Its quite easy to get foam ball from fancl counters, just tell them you need one and they will give it to you generously. I heard that we need to pay in japan for that!

I tried DHC salicylic acne wash sample lately and i decided to use it with the foaming ball since i knew i could never create enough foam with my bare hands. It was in gel form so i rolled the ball back and forth, allowing it to 'absorb' in the gel. Within seconds, trust me, it less than 5 seconds, with a little squeezing for the ball, foam was created! I dint managed to snap a photo of it but i tried it with vichy purifying cleansing gel today. That was my 1st gel cleanser, received it as a freebie when i bought the pore minimiser product lately. I opened it not long ago but was too busy to try it haha.

shocking right haha! I used roughly same amount of gel for both tries yet the difference was soooo biggggg!

I dont have any opened foam cleansers (tube form) with me right now so i cant try it, but if you have the same problem as me, try it with fancl foaming ball! OR any other foaming sponge/ball you can find in the market :) I was thinking daiso may have such cleansing tools since japanese are crazy about foam haha.

Alternatively, you can opt for mousse or bubble cleansers, those pump kind whereby foam was already created and stored in those pump bottles and we just need to press the pump to get the foam. I know hada labo, nuxe ($20+) & Juju aquamoist (around $15) have their cleansers in pump form at watsons. Do take note that these cleansers finishes faster. Whether those foam are 'thin' or dense, i guess will have to depends on brand.

Review: DHC Salicylic Acne Wash

Received this sample few months ago, decided to try it lately haha. Cos I'm too in love with my foamy fancl powder lol! This small sachet was only enough for 2 washes.

Saw that brown circle sticker on the right? Thats to remind myself that i received it in april! For samples its best to use it up within 6months upon receiving since it likely that samples are old stocks, i mean who knows right! Yah, im a freak in these areas, Im scared of using expired stuff on my face =p

This acne wash(120ml) is retailing for $29.50 at Watsons. This range contains active ingredient, salicylic acid, 2%. The ingredients look impressive with aloe, royal jelly etc.

Result:

This acne wash is yellowish in color, very runny gel. The scent is quite overwhelming, smells exactly like the moisturiser. has got this herbal like scent, i dont quite like it personally.

Im too used to thick foam, so i use my fancl foaming ball with this cleanser and i managed to create lotsa foam! I will write a post about creating foam with cleansers this weekend :) though there are lotsa foam, but its a little 'thin', not those dense kind like fancl. For some reason, there are lotsa bubbles too. Though foam is thin, but still possible to massage on my face, still quite acceptable.

After cleansing, face feel soft, not tight and smooth! I think my face looks a little clearer and brighter too.

Verdict: 8/10

Since i only used it twice, i dono if it helps in combatting zits or what, but the after wash feel is not bad!

Review: Skinfood Gold Caviar Cream

Since the number of samples i have in my bag are increasing day by day, i decide to clear some by using them on my neck hehe. I chose to use them on my neck simply because i knew it was not going to be suitable for my face, yet i dint wanna waste it cos who knows it may be something good right haha.

I received skinfood gold caviar cream sample from koreanbb when i bought the egg moisture hair pack from them a few months back. i checked online, it was meant for anti-aging. im very particular about stuff to be applied onto my face, so of cos this sample is going to be applied to my neck instead.

Result:

Scent is very mild, bascially cant smell it unless you applied it near nose i guess. Texture is thick cream, white in color. Very hard to massage onto neck due to the thick texture. It never got absorbed in apparently and my neck was very oily after usage! eek~ i got a mini bump the very next day so i reckon it must be this cream! I nv get bumps on neck before.. omg.

Verdict: Hate it!

Review: Nature Republic 102 MD Water Collection For Pore & Sebum Control

Bought this powder mask a few months back when i was interested in Nature Republic stuff. So far, they only have a outlet at junction 8 & 313.

For this powder mask, the powder and the liquid are sold separately, both at $1.60 each i dint remember wrongly. They have quite a few choices for this powder mask. 5 in total including this that i've bought. They have the red one for moisture, brown one for detox, light blue for firming and yellow one for oriental nutrition ( i dont know what this means that, I got this info from this website haha).

The one that Ive tried is the Pore & sebum controlling water: Alpine glacial water from Mattehorn + Edelweiss + Bear Berry + Artemisia.

I think its acting like some mud or clay mask. Just that its in powder form and i have to mix them.

DIRECTIONS: Pour MD water collection powder (Sebum-Control Ghassoul Powder) in the MD water container and Close a lid. After shaking well, Gently spread over face using by pack brush and Rinse thoroughly with warm water after 15 minutes.

Result:

I followed the instructions and pour the powder to the small bottle containing the MD water.
Initially, i poured about 80% of the powder cos I reckon i dont need that much. When i opened the lid, i realised the mixture is still a little watery so i decided to pour in all powder since i wont be using them again anyway so why not. But after i did this, the whole thingy became abit gross, the powder became like big lumps thats impossible to take out from the bottle even. Nonetheless, I still use my finger to dig into the bottle since i don wanna waste my $$.

I cant really smell anything during the whole process.

I use my fingers to spread the mixture onto my face and leave it for about 15min. It started to harden a little but not totally after 15min. But i still rinse it off.

I think there is a slight brightening effect and face was powdery smooth after usage. But after a while, I realise my face feel abit tight. Its better after i applied my skincare but still not very comfy. I regretted not applying a hydrating sheet mask after this powder mask.

The oil control was quite good cos my face was less oily this morning when i woke up. My face was less oily the whole of today and i dint have to blot.

Verdict: Price 6.5/10 Effect 7.5/10

I think i still prefer the usual ready-made mud or clay mask, like my ahava mud mask though the oil control is not as impressive as this. This powder mask was abit too messy and a bit costly for 1time usage. I dont like to wait too long in the toilet haha, cos i usually do all my rinse off mask during shower.

Review: ELG Crystal Collagen Eye Mask 4th Generation Part 2

Tried more of ELG eye mask this week. The orange one this time round.

The orange packaging one contains Orange + Lemon + EGF + GHK-Cu: Enhanced with collagen and Vitamin C, helps in skin repair and fine lines, improves skin elasticity.

this is the plastic tray in the packet when i opened it. I dont why but i find it quite lame cos the mask are always one on each side. So when u are taking the tray out from the packet, do be careful cos one mask is at the back so dont drop it.

Result:

As seen above, thats how the collagen mask looks like. Looks like jelly huh haha.

Scent etc was the same as the rest which are previously reviewed. I find this not as hydrating as the gold one. I can still see a little of my dehydration line on my right eye. Dont really see brightening effect too.

Verdict: 6/10

I wont put this orange ELG to hall of fame cos its not very hydrating, at least for me. But it dint give my bumps etc, cooling and cheap so i wont fail it too :)

Review: Cotton Pads Showdown - Guardian VS Selena

I cant believe it.. I can even write a review on cotton pads lol. Well, sometimes you wont know how good a product is till you change it haha.

The contestants today are Guardian Facial Squares & Selena Clean Puff ( From Sasa).

Round 1: Price

Guardian facial squares is retailing for $2.2 per box, 100 pads in a box., made in malaysia. Selena Clean Puff is 2boxes for $3.95 at Sasa, each box has 80 pads, made in Japan. If you were to do the calculations, Guadian is cheaper by a little, each is $0.022 while selena is $0.0246.

Sometimes when Sasa is having offers, 4boxes of Selena cost $3.95 only.

Winner: Guardian won by slight margin.

Round 2: Quality

Both cotton pads are soft and smooth in texture. Guardian is slighly smoother on the surface. From the side of the cotton pads, you can see there are some cotton fluff for selena's. But they wont be all over my face when i use them to remove mascara etc.

I usually use cotton pads to apply my ettusais shooter (Liquid). I tried it with Guardian's yest and i dono if the cotton pads are really so thick or what, I usually only need to press the spray 3times and the selena cotton pad will be wet enough to dab all over my face. But for guardian's, I spray around 5x and it seems like the cotton pad absorb it all! the surface is still not damp enough when i dab it on my face. I wasted so much shooter instead. There goes my $$$..

Winner: I will see Selena as the winner cos it save alot of my shooter!

Verdict: Selena! For cotton pads, i feel that its important to get better ones cos i dont like the wool/fluff all over my face will i use my toner or remover. Next, to save on toner etc, a good cotton makes a difference! Spending a bit more on cotton will save me more money on toner etc in the long run.

Review: Bio-essence Bio-Hydra Eye and Lip Dual Make up Remover

I bought this trial sized remover when i was searching for one thats for my lips a few months back. I got this 30ml for $1.90 at watsons :) The full sized (think its 100ml or more) is retailing at $11.90.

Cos i threw the box away, I cant write the ingredients here but i do remember there is added fragrance.

Result:

the scent was alright but a bit too strong for my liking. Its like the loreal & maybelline's, have to shake before use and there are 2 layers, with the blue colored one on top. Texture is the same as those 2 above too, watery liquid.

I dont use it for mascara since mine can be removed with water. Well, I tried it for eye shadow, eye liner & lip gloss.

For eye shadow, mine is kanebo & ettusais' ones, can be removed easily with this. Dint sting my eyes or what. But for my mac lip dazzleglass, need to really wet the cotton in order to remove those glitter. Do note that this lip gloss is really qute shimmery haha. For ettusais eyeliner, can be removed easily! I remembered using a cotton bud to remove my eye liner ( cos i need to re-draw the part which is crooked haha), and it removed it effortlessly!

Verdict: 9/10

Overall quite a good product i feel. Removes my eyeliner easily, thats the most important thing to me cos i hate removing eyeliners haha. Price reasonable too, definitely cheaper than Maybelline since thats only 70ml. 1 point deducted for the scent cos i dont really like products with added fragrance, moverover i dint really fancy the scent haha. I shall consider putting it to the hall of fame when i finish the trial sized bottle.

Review: ELG Crystal Collagen Eye Mask 4th Generation

Got to know this eye mask because of NRWZA ( 女人我最大）,the famous taiwanese variety show which many have heard and probably watched before.

I chanced upon them at thespreestore website ( links on the right). I started off by using the 3rd generation one and i love them! ELG 3rd generation is the 1st eye mask I tried too. Then it was upgraded to the 4th generation.

I got mine from thespreestore (they are the licensed distributor in sg) for 80cents each. There are a few types available for this mask.

GOLD
(Arbutin + L-Ascorbic + EGF + GHK-Cu): Has whitening effects, improves skin pigmentation and lightens dark circles, improves skin elasticity

SILVER

(Pearl + Hyaluronic Acid + EGF + GHK-Cu): Effectively moistures the skin and lightens melanin in the skin under the eyes, leaving skin supple and bright

PINK

(Red Wine + Grape + EGF + GHK-Cu): Specially suited for skin prone to aging and dehydration, this helps to restore skin vitality, prevents wrinkles

ORANGE

(Orange + Lemon + EGF + GHK-Cu): Enhanced with collagen and Vitamin C, helps in skin repair and fine lines, improves skin elasticity

BLUE

(Seaweed + Tea Tree Extract + EGF + GHK-Cu):Deeply moistures the skin under eyes, helps to relax the skin and prevents wrinkles

Due to laziness, Ive stopped eye masking for some time, though i did wandered off to other brands like DHC on and off (only to realise that it gave me bumps :( ) After trying those eye patches such as purederm and dhc, I realised i still prefer sheet eye masks or jelly kind like ELG.

I will include pictures of the eye mask and the packaging etc when i use them again.

Result:

I tried the 4th generation GOLD & GREEN ones lately again. I wil review the silver and orange ones next time.

The 4th generation ELG eye mask: 0.038mm and 10g each

All ELG eye masks are in 'jelly' texture, transparent. When i opened it, there is like a plastic separator, one mask on each side. There are lots of essence in watery form, so be careful if not you will spill them all over.

Im not sure there is added fragrance but i quite like the scent of the masks. Refreshing scent and all their eye masks smell the same. I wonder if thats the collagen smell haha.

The eye masks may look slippery cos of the essence etc but i was surprised it din slipped around when i was applying them on my eye areas. So its actually quite easy to apply it but i will strongly encourage to lie down and relax once applied. I doubt we can use the com with the masks on us.

It quite relaxing to have something cooling on the eye areas though i dint put it in fridge. After like 10min or so, my eyes look hydrated and 'fresh'. I noticed the gold ones gave me better brightening effects compared to the green one. Both are equally moisturising i feel. My dehydration line on my right eye will disappear for like 1-2days aftr usage haha. no sticky feeling after usage and little essence left on eye areas. Probably absorbed in already haha.

Verdict: 10/10 I love it!

Price is really affordable, even for teens since they are under $1. I think i can mask evyday with ELG if there is a need haha.

No pulling and tugging of the skin too due to the material and texture. For me, I prefer something light for my eyes area so this mask is just nice for me.

Herbacin 德国小甘菊: Highly Raved in Taiwan

A few months back, I started to see this new green stand at Watsons. The bright green color with the white flower caught my attention. But I dint bother to look at the products since Ive never heard of the brand, and the packaging dint look appealing to me at all.

Well, when i was browsing the UrCosme taiwanese review forum last weekend, I saw something familiar. Yes, its the green tube with white flower again! Oh god, I dint expect Herbacin to be so highly raved in Taiwan!

Herbacin is apparently a german brand ( I dint realise it from the name, oops). They cultivate its own plants and herbs for decades. All their products undergo dermatological testing.

From their stand at Watsons, I realised they only brought a few items to sg.

So whats the highly raved item in taiwan?!

Wuta Kamille Glycerine Hand Cream & Wuta Kamille Skin Care Cream!

1 of their highly raved product is the wuta kamille skin care cream. Its meant for intensive care for legs and hands. It has got 6/7 in UrCose, with 270 pple rated it. It was voted the no1 foot cream in 2007. $4.5 for the tin.

Another highly raved will be their Glycerine Hand cream. It got a rating of 5.8/7 at UrCosme. This rating is considered very high, cos i seldom see products with such rating. Moreover, its rated by 1224 people in that forum! 312 pple gave it full marks and 501 pple with 6/7. This result is considered very good in my opinion. It was voted the no1 hand cream in 2007 and no2 in 2006. It was beaten by crabtree in 2008. I will write the results of this UrCosme poll in another post since i guess alot people don like reading traditional chinese haha. retailing at $3.50 for the 20ml, $8.50 for 70ml.

There are 2 types of hand cream. Both under Wuta Kamille range. I guess the difference is the Soft hand cream is the lighter version. The soft hand cream got a rating of 5.6/7, with 185 people rated on it. $4 for the 20ml, $10.5 for the 70ml.

The lip balm ($8.5) and exfoliant ($18.9) have rating of 5 and 5.3 respectively, with about 200 over people rated on them. The rest of the products either do not have rating or dint get good rating at UrCosme.

The brochure at Watsons is quite informative, stating the available sizes of the products. For eg, the glycerine hand cream come in 3 sizes, 75ml and 20ml tubes and 20ml tins.

Well, im a sucker for handcream, I'll most probably get the small sized one to try though i still have 2 brand new ones (DHC & Venus Spa) at home! hehe.

Review: Sasa Apple Anti-Blemish Mask

Bought this some time ago since it was on offer, 3 for $3.95 if i dint remember wrongly. This mask is one of Sasa's in house masks. They have other flavors too.

this mask seems to be a clarifying mask to me. Pretty impressive for the ingredients. Apple & algae extract, aloe, allantoin, niacinamide.

Result:

The material of this sheet mask is quite good, similar to that of Skinvitals, feels like cloth. Comes with eye flaps, adheres well to skin too, size is alright.

There is added fragrance, i find the scent weird but not too overwhelming though. Essence is quite little i feel, dont look like 25ml.

Face looked significantly brighter after masking. BUT face have 2 red bumps after about 2hours. Face dont feel vv hydrated, so-so, i guess it wont be hydrating enough for dry skin pple. The red bumps are still there after a day. I think they are going to be transform into zits v soon. NONONONO~

Verdict:

This mask will join those at the hall of HATES!!! I was quite happy to see the face brighter, and was devastated to see the red bumps!!! ARGH~

Review: Daiso Sponge and Puff Cleanser

I forgot how i got to know this highly raved sponge cleanser from daiso, probably it was from a friend, if not i must have read it somewhere that this cleanser is good. Well, I guess i was pretty lucky. I went to daiso twice, and managed to find it at the vivo outlet. I read that alot people searched high and low for it but to no avail.

Since its from daiso, so its obvious this cleanser (80ml )cost me $2 only. Well, the bottle stated that its made in japan, I find it a little unbelievable cos isnt it abit too good to be true that this $2 cleanser is actually made in japan?! ANyway, as long as it works, who cares right haha.

I only use the cleanser on my foundation sponge so far. I bought the fancl sponge cleanser when i was in tokyo too. I will compare this with the fancl's next time. Probably next year march haha. Cos thats when Ive to discard this cleanser since it has been a year already.

Result:

The cleanser is rather watery, transparent liquid to be exact. I cant really smell anything since there is no added fragrance etc.

What i usually do is wet my sponge first, then pour a little of this cleanser directly onto my sponge and squeeze it. A little foam will be formed than i just wash it under running water. Whole process took me less than 5min. Air dry sponge overnight to make sure its really dry before putting back into my foundation case.

After washing, sponge looks clean again :) I think this cleanser is a little strong since my hands felt dry after cleansing.

Verdict: 10/10

A cheap and good sponge cleanser indeed :)

I dont use it on brushes since I've my sephora brush cleanser with me. For sponge, i guess its a little hard to judge if this cleanser leave the sponge soft or affect the quality of my sponge. But i guess if we use it on puff, it will be easier to gauge? For me, I dont have expensive sponge/puff, and im satisfied that this cleanser left my sponge clean. My sponge is the one that comes with the ettusais foundation in case you are wondering.

Review: Kracie Hadabisei Super Moisture Mask

I bought this mask when i was in tokyo in May. the 5+1 pack for 500yen ($8). It can be found in most Watsons outlets now, retailing at $18.90 for 5pc.

This mask (25ml) contains royal jelly, hyaluronic Acid. citric acid (lemon extract) to soften. no fragrance and coloring. Do note that it contains alcohol.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Methylgluceth-20, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Alcohol, Royal Jelly Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum Fruit Extract.

Result:

Well, the scent was normal since there is no added fragrance haha. Though there is alcohol but im glad i cant detect it. I notice the fabric was kinda different the other masks, it seems to have a lot of micro holes, somewhat similar to Neutogena's. The eye holes are quite small, and omg, for the 1st time, i encounter mask that has small mouth holes too =.= my lips felt like being squashed up. But im glad that the mask adheres well to my skin except for the nose area cos its slightly too nose, probably cos ive a flat nose haha.

Mask was moderately wet. I left it on for like 12min. When i took it off, i saw alot of bubbles on my face lol. Yes, bubbles, I was a little amazed. I reckon its bcos of the design of the mask. After massaging the essence left on my face, I still felt a little sticky so i wiped it off with tissue. Face felt really moisturised, quite soft but not smooth.

Face was a little oily the next morning.

Verdict: 6.5/10

I was abit sad when i see alcohol in the list. But probably its not the 1st few, and im a sucker for jap products, so I still go ahead with this mask haha.

I like how well this mask adhere to my skin except for the small eye & mouth holes. Other than being moisturising, the mask dint left my face smooth and was abit sticky. I tried 2x so far and I still have 3pc with me, i will use them on next week to see if it can change my view.

Review: H2o+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment

H2o+ Oasis moisturiser aka 8杯水， is famous for its hydrating purposes. I bought this moisturiser some time back when i was feeling rich haha.

I thought by using a hydrating moisturiser my face will secrete less oil but i guess i was wrong lol. For skincare, sometimes i think we just have to try it before knowing the results, being too analytical dont always work. Experts always say if face is dehydrated, we will secrete more oil, so never forget to moisturise blah blah blah~ Well, probably all this knowledge do help me to select my products, as for finding my HG, I think luck is still the more important factor here hehe.

Anyway, I only knew there is h2o+ at wisma isetan & citylink. Rather limited ya. This moisturiser is retailing at around $68 (50g) if i dint remember wrongly.

Well, this water-based moisturiser comes in a tub, something im not very keen on due to hygiene reasons. It doesnt comes with an applicator or mini 'spatula' for me to scoop the gel out. So i got no choice but to get one for it, im a freak in this area remember? haha. I bought those mini travel tubs (to put cream etc）package at Sasa for a few bucks, and they included a small spatula inside. If you find it too troublesome, i guess those small plastic spoon work the same too. So everytime i use this moisturiser, i got to wash it and wipe dry, so its kinda irritating at first. But after some time, i was used to it and the time taken to do the washing etc become more of like a prepration time ( waiting time for my ettusais shooter to be absorbed in).

The dustbin symbol (refer to freshness post at beauty tips label) stated that once opened, this moisturiser can only last 9months.

Result:

Nowadays, i use it twice a day, morning & night, after my ettusais version Up & shooter. All along i knew ettusais is not hydrating enough for my oily skin so i decided to add this moisturiser after them. Do note that this is an oil & alcohol free product. The oil free fact kinda assured me that it wont colg my pores etc.

The texture of this product is similar to gel, when u shake the tub, you can see the moisturiser boucing haha. The watery gel like texture makes application really easy.

There is added fragrance. The scent isnt exactly appealing to my senses but its not that bad either. It just smell like a marine product lol. Complementing the light blue color.

I use very little, probably a 10cent/5cent coin size each time. I know its very little but i think its enough for my whole face. Moreover, this is just like extra moisture for me since i have ettusais on my face already. If you have dry skin, you can try putting a thicker layer and leave it on for 5min as a mask. This was stated on the tub itself.

After massaging, it takes some time for the product to be fully absorbed in. Its a little sticky at first but this feeling will go away after some time. After i apply my neck cream and eye lash essence, i can start applying my pimple gel already, so i guess the absorption time is only about 1 min or so?

Face look fresh, dewy and hydrated after application. Rather lightweight too since i apply it in the morning before i go out. But my face is still oily the next morning. But after rinsing ( without cleanser), face will feel soft and smooth again haha. I was using it when i was in Tokyo in may. It kept my skin moisturised and prevent flaking too. The air there was rather dry then.

After using this for a few months, Im quite sure it dint clog my pores or give me zits. BUT it dint prevent zits either.

Verdict:

Price: 7/10 I dint fail it cos im sure the tub can last me 9months judging on the amount i use daily haha.

Effects: 7.5/10 I really like the texture and the fact that my skin look dewy after usage. But cos my main concern is zits, I would prefer my moisturiser to help me combat zits and perhaps some oil control.

Im not sure if i will re-purchase, but i would love to give the shine neutralizing gel (the green color tub that looks exactly like this oasis) a try after hearing gd review from miao :)

More Kracie at Watsons!

Have been seeing quite a number of kracie (kanebo) products in Watsons lately. 1st its their facial masks (Ive the moisturising, whitening and charcoal ones, will review once i try them!), then the cleanser, cleansing oil and cleansing wipes. Now its their Hair products!

So far, their masks are available at most Watsons, but their naive range i only see it at taka watsons. They have a mini stand there. Prices ranges from around $8- $15 if i dint remember wrongly. I saw quite a number of raves for their olive cleansing oil.

Well, since i was looking for a shampoo to replace Loreal ( I seriously think i drop more hair than usual with it and i am feeling a bit scared now haha), so i decided to give ichikami (Kracie Kanebo) a try. I bought it at $7.90 for the 200ml (small). Quite costly if you compared to other brands. They only have 1 type of shampoo & conditioner for all hair types. They have the treatment mask too.

I tried it for the 1st time just now. I love the floral scent! I can still smell it when i finished my shower 2hours ago lol. It wasnt too overwhelming when i was using it just now, so dint expect the scent to last that long! Well, it made my hair smooth and soft. But i guess all shampoo are good at first haha. I shall review it again in 2weeks time! :)

Review: La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. 理肤宝水青春调理精华乳

Though skinvitals pimple gel works fast enough for me, it dint solve my scarring problem. I bought this after seeing some gd reviews at tw beauty website (urcosme, link at the Beauty Reads section).

It retailing at about $27 (15ml) at Watsons, Guardian & nishino (taka basement). There are occasional offers for this brand, together with vichy & avene, usually its 20%. I was lucky enough to be able to get it during the 20%.

This pimple cream is Hypoallergenic, Non-comedogenic.
It claims to purge imperfection in depth to accelerate their resorption and prevent residue skin marking. It contains niacinamide to stop the development of breakout, piroctone olamine/ glycacil combination purifies the seat of bacteria activity to resorb skin imperfections. It has LHA for micro exfoliation and to activate skin regeneration, repairing la roche posay spring thermal water for soothing effects too.

Seems good huh? After trying so many pimple gel, I dont really care about all these as long as the cream works for me haha. But i do avoid benzoyl peroxide cos i know thats too strong for my skin.

Results:

This product is in cream form, but no worries, its not sticky at all. Its rather light and easy to blend, dries up fast too. It smells really nice, very refreshing but there is no added fragrance, so i guess its the natural scent.

Its very mild, even my sensitive skin can take it. Probably because because of the texture, i tend to apply a little more than my previous pimple gel, yet my skin dint peel etc.

It takes quite long to heal bigger zits, say 5days to heal one of mine. It wont force my zits to ripe faster like skinvitals'. So when i know i'm going out the next day, I wanna treat my zit but at the same time i dont want it to ripe so fast cos with the pus its ugly, i will apply this haha. I dont think it reduce redness as well, at least not significant enough for me to notice. But i did notice my scarring became lighter compared to those which ive applied skinvitals'.

Verdict: 7/10

I'm alternating this pimple cream with skinvitals, hoping to reduce scarring. If you've scarring problem like me, perhaps you can give this product a try. But if you want that work fast, then probably skinvitals will be a better bet. I dint fail it mainly because of the nice scent, and that it did help my scarring a bit. Moreover, its pretty affordable too after 20%.

它非常温和，就算擦多了皮肤也不会脱皮。但对于稍微大点的痘痘，大约需要5天才能击退。它不会像skinvitals那款一样，会让痘痘赶快熟。用了之后，痘痘好像还是蛮红肿的。虽然这款没有完全解决我痘痘留下痘疤的问题，但我发现用了它之后，留下的痘疤没这么大，颜色也比较淡。

结论：7/10

如果你也有痘疤问题，不妨试试这款，价格打完折后也不会太贵。

Ettusais August Surprise!

Ettusais has a limited edition Acne body wash this month! Its floral fragrance compared to the usual fruity one.

For back acne, Ettusais has got 2 products to combat it. They have this acne wash and the whitening mist. I realised they have the guys version as well, i suppose its a stronger version, perhaps more cooling?

Personally, I tried the wash and the mist sometime ago. For the wash, i think its useless for me but i do agree it smells nice. As for the mist, i think it gave me bumps instead.

This month freebie is a white ribbon bag, quite pretty i feel, not sure if it looks gd in real life. Members need to spend $80, non-members $88 to get the bag :)

Review: Ginvera Jade Dark Eye Circles Roll Away

Got this when i saw Cleo awarding this eye roller as the best eye rescue treatment. I bought it for $13.15 (usual $18.8) at ntuc. Its available at watsons, guardian & ntuc. I realise there will be occasional offers for this roller, do look out if you are keen to get it.

Jade roller contains ample mineral elements that emit energy to suppress and prevent bacteria from breeding, thus more hygenic than other rollers.

This product claims to roll away dark circles, brighten and firm eye contour, prevent eye bags, crow feet and fine lines, allow easy make up application.

Well, I can only say this jade roller seriously looks attractive and managed to distinguish itself from the others such as the garnier roller.

Result:

There is a slight scent, i find the it quite nice. Though i dint put it in the fridge like my bro, it still feel cooling on my undereye. What i like about this roller is that it wont release too much essence thus clogging my skin. Hence, I can massage comfortably around my eyes. I guess its the way we hold it too. Dont hold it vertically, instead hold it at a angle smaller than 90, then there wont be too much flowing out. I usually roll 2-3 rounds around each eye.

My eyes look hydrated after usage. Feel relaxed after all the rolling too. Essence was absorbed fast, without leaving a sticky feeling. After using it for slightly more than a month, I dont really see a significant improvement on my dark circles and lines. Eh i dont really have serious eye problem to start off with in the first place i guess. But im glad it din give me any bumps etc.

Verdict:

Price 8.5/10 I bought it at $13 so i think its really affordable. I will probably think twice if there is no discount for this. Since only a little is used each time, i reckon a tube can last really long.

Effects: 7/10 I reckon its more suitable for teens, when they just want some maintenance for their eyes. I really love the cool feeling on my eyes though. Since its quite light, I usually apply it after my eye masks too.

Review: Loreal Paris Elseve Smooth-Intense Caring Shampoo

I tried this shampoo after hearing raves from miao and gek. It can be found at Watsons, ntuc, guardian. Its selling at $3.50 at those amk beauty shops for the small bottle one.

Result:

This shampoo really smells nice! Made my hair smooth and soft. But i do notice i drop more hair with this compared to Asience, so have to use it moderately. My friend experienced this too. I will probably alternate it with another shampoo soon.

Verdict:

Price 10/10 its really v cheap!

Effects: 7.5/10 Points deducted cos i drop my hair than usual. Its not like i will become bald or what but just cant help but feel a little scared haha.

Review: Dermal Cucumber Collagen Essence Mask

Only got to now this mask lately though it was in sg for quite some time already. It can be found at Sasa, Watsons & guardian, selling at $1.95/pc, sometimes $1/pc at sasa since they have the buy 1 get 1 free promo. It can be found at Gmarket as well, much cheaper, around $1/pc, and if i am not wrong, there seem to be more 'flavors; at gmarket as compared to the stores.

Bought the cucumber & charcoal one to try. All dermal masks contain collagen (0.2%). If its the cucumber, the mask will contain 1% of cucumber extract. If its lemon, then it will have 1% lemon extract in the mask.

Initially, i thought cucumber will be more for soothing purpose. But on the packet, it actually states that its for purfiy, refined & moisturising.

Do note that there is methylparaben and perfume in the ingredient list. No alcohol though.

Result:

Mask is moderately wet, with a cucumber scent thats not too strong, quite ok i feel. Essence is not the gel kind, more towards the watery kind. Material of mask is not too thin as compared to the other korean mask such as skinlite that ive tried previously. Mask comes with eye 'flaps', so we can still mask our eyelids at the same time lol. Mask fits me well, 1 of the best cut for me, even at the areas near the nose! Usually when i mask, areas near nose cant be covered cos our nose aint flat u see. But this mask, i dont how they do it, but it just fits nicely.

Face look brighter & clearer after masking! was pretty shocked.. since its not a whitening mask. Face feel soft but not vv hydrated i feel, not sure is it because I did a mud mask (deep cleansing) before i mask. Just a very light mask. Face still look bright this morning, but still as oily. Dint soothe my pimples, neither did it irritate them.

Verdict:

Price 9/10 Quite a standard price for mask found in sg stores.

Effects: 7/10 Was satisfied with the brightening effect. But I would want it to be more hydrating too. Definitely not the mask for you if you are looking for intense hydration.

CLean & Clear VS Anna Sui VS Kleenex VS Ettusais!!

Round 1: Price

CC: $4.4 for 50 sheets

AS: $8 for ? Not stated on box, but I think it has around 80 sheets or more since 1 packet can last up to 3months when i use them 5x a week, at least 2 each day.

K: $3.65 for 50 sheets. I finally found it at ion guardian after searchin for like 2weeks?! there is a 50cents discount coupon in cleo mag Aug issue :)

E: $9 for 50sheets. I got it for free cos its given out as a freebie when you have 10stamps in your ettusais card.

Winner: Its a fight between kleenex and Anna sui, but due to absorbent ability, kleenex should be the winner cos i tend to use 2 sheets for anna sui's.

Round 2: Design

CC: Normal looking blue sheets. With tape on packet so we can take out 1 sheet easily. probably the tape is too strong, 2 sheets will be taken out sometimes.

AS: Pretty purple shade with butterflies prints! The design of the packet is lovely too! Its designed so conveniently that only 1 sheet will be taken out each time.

i hope you can see the the butterflies on the blotter! so lovely! Its not vv obvious in real life too though.

K: Plain Pretty purple on 1 side, pretty floral designs on the other. similar to CC, there is a tape to help us take out the sheets. Becos the sheet is rather thick, so only 1 sheet can be taken out each time.
Even the box is made with a material thats better than the rest! The manufatured date is printed at the back of box :) Made in taiwan.

The one on top is the front, which pple will see when we are blotting lol. the one at the bottom is the side which we blot :) It wil turn dark purple after absorbing out oil.

Ettusais: Brown sheet thats looks like sand paper haha.

Winner: I still think Anna Sui box looks the best! haha. BUT i think its easier for others to spot the kleenex shhet design from far compared to Anna Sui's cos of the material of the sheets. u know, sometimes u just wanna show off the pretty things you have LOL. So i declare its a tie between Anna Sui & kleenex!

Round 3: Texture & Material

CC: Feels plastic-sy to me haha. I dono isit me or what, but i do feel that sometimes the sheet is not smooth enough when i dab abit too hard on my face. Oil seeps through sometimes..

AS: Surface is smooth. Because its so thin, oil does seep through! So my fingers feel greasy sometimes after blotting

K: Oil does not seep through since its twin layer! Sheet is so soft and much thicker than the rest! Very spongy feeling when i dab it on my face!

E: Slightly rougher than AS. Due to the thin material as well, oil seeps through! According to a friend (she will kill me if i reveal her name here lol), her sheets tore when she was blotting omg!

Winner: Definitely Kleenex! It just feel so soft, smooth and spongy on my face!!

Round 4: Discreet

Discreet meaning if people can know how much oil i have on my face by looking at the blotter =.=

CC: not only me, practically everybody can see how much oil i have! :( Since that film turns transparent when oil is absorbed..Its so unglam & embarrassing for me especially when i tend to blot in front of others rather than in the ladies.

AS: because of the material and color of the sheet, its almost impossible for others to see the oil, but at the same time, its quite hard for me to see as well. hence, its hard for me to know if i need to another sheet, thus usually causing me to use 2sheets each time.

K: Its designed in a way that only i can see how much oil i have haha! The plain side which we use will turn darker showing us how much oil is absorbed! People opp me can only see the lovely floral prints hehe. well, make sure no1 is standing behind u wahaha.

E: Though material is similar to AS, but cos its brown in color, so its easier for us and pple to see the oil on the sheet. Not as obvious as C&C though.

Winner: Kleenex for sure!

Round 5: Absorbent

CC & K: Can absorb oil well for both. I cant decide which is better since i just started using kleenex today haha! Shall update it when i finish the pack

AS & E: Cant really absorb well, have to dab a few more times on same area. Sometimes i feel its a plus point cos i dont want all my oil to be gone and my face will end up secreting more oil since its like a equilibrium system. i usually have to use 2 sheets for my whole face.

OVERALL: KleeneX! Sheets are soft on our delicate skin, reasonably priced, & pretty at the same time! What more can we ask for!

Review: Kose Cosmeport CoenRich Q10 Hand cream

Got to know this handcream (80g) at nishino pharmacy (Taka basement) sometime in april. I was thinking if nishino brought this hand cream into sg, it must be quite good, or at least popular in japan. If not why would nishino bring it in right haha.

It was selling at around $20 at nishino. Since i was going japan, of course i bought it there. I managed to get it at about 500yen (sgd8) if i dint remember wrongly. I dint see it elsewhere other than nishino in sg.

It consists of conenzyme Q10, coix seed extract and pearl extract. It claims to be able to whiten hands.

Ive been using it everyday since i came back from japan in late may.

Results:

Cream is white in color. Very faint scent which doesnt smell like added fragrance. Scent was ok, not too overwhelming.

Cream is rather thick, quite hard to massage in. Its one of the thickest handcream that I've tried so far. Its not moisturising for my hands at all. My hands did not look radiant after application too.

I was planning to condemn this handcream till lately i realised what it have did to my hands. I realised it did whiten my hands a little. The tiny brown spots on the back of my hands seem to disappear and lighten quite a bit.

Verdict: 7/10 Though its not moisturising enough for my dry hands, but im glad at least it did whiten my hands a little. Please note that my hands and fingers did not become fairer, its just that the tiny freckles look -alike spots did disappear or lighten. I'm left with half a tube, i shall update if I experience better results from it.

Review: Essential Damage Care Rich Premier Shampoo

This shampoo can be found at watsons, guardian, ntuc and those beauty shops at amk. Costs only $4.50 (small sized) but $3.50 at amk. Cheapest shampoo (abit too cheap huh) made in japan found locally haha. There are 2 types, the other is for airy boucy hair (pink bottle).

This shampoo is for smooth & manageable hair. High purity honey and milk protein to repair and strengthen. Sunflower oil essence leaves protective layer to keep hair soft and moisturized. Floral fragrance. Alcohol is the 3rd ingredient in the list. There is added fragrance.

Effects:

This shampoo smells rather nice, very fruity. For the 1st few days, hair is left smooth. But after a week, my hair became dry and frizzy! at the end of 2nd week, i dont even feel like using it anymore :( I use this shampoo mostly without conditioner. probably only once or twice a week with treatment.

Verdict: 2/10 Its a really affordable shampoo made in japan. But its really not moisturising for my hair i guess. the 2 pts are for the price and scent. Gek told me she had the same problem with this shampoo too.

Review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask 露得清水活保湿面膜

After seeing the great review from miao (guest review previously), i decided to try the 1 and only piece that Ive at home yestersday.

I got this for $2.95/pc a few mths back at Watsons. I dont really see it on sale again. Usually, a box of 5 is $31.50 without discount if i am not wrong. Can be found at John little, Watsons & Guardian.

Result:

I dont have the ingredients list with me but what i am sure it doesnt contain fragrance or alcohol.

It smells and looks exactly like their fine fairness mask. Scent is not overwhelming but size is slightly big for me. But what i do appreciate is the big eye holes haha. With lotsa tiny little holes haha. moderately soaked with watery essence.

I left it on for like 15min. Face felt hydrated for the whole night but not really smooth. Skincare glide on easily. Dint irritate my zits too, but neither did it soothe them haha.

but when i woke up this morning, i din see any new bumps or zits (phew~~), face feel really soft, radiant (though i slept at 2am) and hydrated! face was still a little oily though. even after cleansing (with cleanser), face still feel very hydrated, no tightness at all.

Verdict:
Effects: 8/10 I will probably put it in my hall of fame if i get good results from it again.
Price: I will only repurchase if its at $2.95 again.. $6/pc (without discount) is simply madness!

效果：

香味没太重，但面膜我嫌大了点。拿出来时，面膜蛮湿的，精华液还蛮多的，属于像水一般的精华液。有别于其他面膜的是这款有很多微织导入孔，能将精华液导入每寸肌肤。眼睛的两个洞相当大，本人蛮喜欢这点哈哈。

敷完后，脸确实觉得水润，但摸起来感觉没有太滑。但是之后护肤品很好擦，似乎更好吸收似地。并没有刺激我的痘痘但也没有舒缓它们哈哈。

隔天起床，脸还是好滋润，有光泽！完全看不出我前晚是2点才睡的。没有冒出的痘痘，但脸还是除了点油。洗完脸后，脸还是很保湿！

结论：从效果这层来看，我会给它 8/10。但价钱也太贵了吧，除非是$3以下，否则大概不会买。

Review: Reason Lash Breeder

I bought this lash essence during my grad trip at ranking queen shop (shinjuku station). Mainly because it was rank no2 under lash essence category haha. I got it for 1260yen. It was under the brand cosmo.

Ive got no idea why they wrote DAY there. why lash essence can only be use during the day haha. I used it in the morning and night after shower. Next, the english words says its for straightening the lashes in the morning??!! who the hell will wan their lashes to be straighten wahaha. well, at least not me. nonetheless, i dint realised all these till i bought them. I saw "VOLUME UP", then i became so excited, and since it was much cheaper than the no1 (which was around 2000yen i think), i just went ahead.

Results:

Ive been using this for nearly 2mths and i realised my lashes did grew longer! Im not so sure for the volume part though. It strengthen my lashes a little, but every week, I still lost 1-2 lashes. :( As for the design of the brush, its like the one in the picture, not curved, so its a little hard to apply to the lashes on the side.

Verdict:

Effects 8/10 This was my 1st lash essence. I cant really compare it with the other brands but well at least its working for me.

Price: 7.5/10 Quite expensive, roughly the same as DHC (price in jap) but more costly than canmake ($11 in jap, i will try this after i finish with this).

Review: Skinvitals Everyday Illuminating Lotion

I got this moisturising as a freebie when i purchase 2 boxes of skinvitals mask a few months ago. This was quite a attractive promotion, so I bought quite a number of boxes haha. Received their eye serum which i still have not open though.

This lotion (40g) is retailing at about $35 or so at Watsons. I saw discounts for this range quite often.

I threw away the box so I cant provide the ingredients. From the tube, its stated that the main ingredients are Vitamin C and white peony. Since Vitamin C is found, we've to discard it 3months (dustbin symbol with 3M on it was found on the tube) atfer opening.

Whats written on the tube:

This silky lotion is the ideal treatment for skin affected by dullness, fine line and dehydrated. Utilizing the anti-oxidant and brightening powder of vitamin C and white peony, this lotion moisturises skin and smoothes fine lines while boosting radiance and vitality.

Results:

I apply this on my neck hoping to lighten my neck, so that my neck & face can be of the same or at least somewhat similar shade.

The smell is quite bad, but thank god its not too strong. Maybe its because I apply it on my neck, not on face so i cant really smell it after applying.

Lotion is quite watery so its quite easy to massage in. Not too oily but takes a while to be absorbed in.

After using it for almost 3months, I see little or no improvement at all for my neck, be it shade or lines. The worst thing is everytime I shower, my neck feels creamy, meaning my neck dint absorb in the lotion?! Even after i exfoliate my neck, this problem persists. OMG.

Verdict: Very disappointed with the product. Luckily i got it for free, cant imagine if i spent $30+ to get it. So I've got no choice but to throw it to the hall of hates :(

Review: Bio-essence Skin White Reviterlizing Exfoliator

Got interested with bio-essence exfoliators after reading 1 of them (the one under another range won, not this) won cleo hall of fame for being the most gentle exfoliator this year.

Bio-essence can be found at watsons, guardians, BHG & ntuc. There are frequent offers for this brand. Usually its 20% at watsons & BHG. Sometimes if you're lucky, you will see them going more than 20%. They are available at the beauty shops like pink beauty & venus at amk (for exact directions, see beauty bargains tag) , prices doesnt diff much if you get them at 20% watsons. Different Ntuc outlets have diff discounts for bio-essence too, in fact all discounts at ntuc seem to diff a bit here and there i realised. Sunplaza ntuc always has great deals for bio-essence according to gek haha. She helped me got this exfoliator at 25% off, expiry date is not anywhere close since its manufactured in march 2010. :) Usual price for this exfoliator is around $28 if i am not wrong.

This product claim to remove dead skin and blackheads, refines pores and whiten skin. It eliminates pigmentation and rough skin. Its a gentle gel based formula, enriched with natural fine micro-exfoliating rice beads, deep cleanses to remove dead skin cells, blackheads, whiteheads and pigmentation, clearing away pore-clogging dirt and oil while nourishing skin with ingredients of pine tree pollen, ginseng, aloe vera and cordyceps, giving away to new born skin, hence achieving a finer, fairer and more even skin tone. Pine pollen is rich in proteins,amino acids, vitamin B, C and E.

No fragrance and alochol. Ingredients look impressive, 1st 9 being extracts of ginseng etc.

immendiately after 1 application, skin is visibly smooth, fairer and younger looking. it contract pores and removes light make up.

Directions: apply gel onto dry skin with dry fingers and rub gently in circular motion. safe on the eye area. daily use recommended.

Result:

Mild scent detected and i think it smells like ginseng i feel. but i quite like the scent, kinda refreshing and natural haha.

Beads are very very fine, not harsh at all, finer than skinfood rice mask. Sometimes i dont even feel the beads haha. Gel is yellowish in color. For gel based exfoliators, we have to make sure fingers are dry. I usually dry my fingers and face with tissue after cleansing. Wait for a few minutes before i exfoliate will give me a easier time.

I saw those white dead skin within seconds. It did made my face smooth, and i dont feel tightness after usage. I dont really see significant brightening effect. I think face look clearer and smoother with CURE. probably because this is gentler since its meant for daily use. i dont really use it daily, usually use it alternately with CURE once a wk. As for blackheads, I think it did remove a LITTLE. No bumps or zits appeared after using it for about a month.

Verdict:

Price 5/10 nearly $30 for small tube of 60g is quite pricey. Moreover, its in gel form, finishes quite fast since i have to squeeze out quite a bit each time. I pass it cos usually we should be able to get it at 20% off.

Effects: 7.5/10 Beads is really fine, hard to find one tts as fine. dead skin flakes appeared much faster compared to CURE. so i will use this when i am in a rush haha. If you're more concerned about the beads part like me, this is quite a decent exfoliator. For pores whitening effects, i think other skincare products say serum will work more effectively.

Fancl Fresh 5th Issue

My stupid brother woke me up from my beauty sleep, I cant get back to sleep anymore. So here I am, blogging about how wonderful Fancl is haha. Sidetrack a little, I dont understand it when he chose to play the guitar ( in strips =.= horizontal stripes top & vertical strips boxers >.<, what a combination!) rather than starting his work earlier. Wierd brother huh!

alright, enough of the grumbles.

I was back home late yestersday and was surprised to see a large envelope with the word Fancl printed on it. Then I realise it must be the fresh issue! I took it on my way home earlier today and dint expect them to mail a copy to me! This is what i call service! :) So sweet of them, thumbs up! Made me feel privileged as their member.

Watsons sent a SMS some time ago telling me that I am entitled to a copy of the current glow magazine cos i spent a minimum amount there. till now, i still dint receive it. Emailed them twice and they dint bother to reply. Call the number written in front of the cashier, stating that thats the customer service number but that number dint even get through. What kinda rubbish is this! So you can imagine my face when experiences with both are so different. Its not about the magazine, its about service seriously. I can be quite particular about this at times.

Love the simple yet elegant fresh cover :) Its their 5th issue so far. I only knew about Fresh when they are at their 2nd issue. Very informative articles as compared to most beauty magazines, explaining why certain skin problems seem to be bugging us etc.

Fresh discuss about whitening, pore problem, wrinkles & hydration (Hyaluronic Aicd) in this issue. Explained very clearly about the ingredients they have in respective products which help to combat different skin problems, adding in some beauty tips here and there. They also have a make up corner teaching us the different ways of applying make up :) I like it when they engage their readers by having Q&A corner, interactive hub and voting in every issue too. I won myself washing powder with puff (for voting my best travel friendly product) and a box of tense up (sharing tips on anti-aging) in their 3rd issue. :) They sent me the washing powder wrapped up securely in box. They even delivered me the tense up ( I can even decide the best timing! ) to my doorstep.. I was so impressed with their service seriously.

Review: H2o+ Sea Marine Scrub

I got this 30ml h2o+ scrub for free when i bought their Oasis Hydrating treatment package some time ago.

This scrub has perfectly round beads that gently polish away dryness while improving skin texture and facilitating moisture penetration. Sea Mineral Complex™ and hydrating marine extracts of wakame, sea fennel, and sea lettuce help cleanse, while also conditioning and softening the skin.

Result:

The blue beads really look lovely but the beads are too harsh to my liking. Its not as gentle as bio-essence exfoliator or Skinfood rice mask. It has got a very marine scent too haha. Dont really like h2o+ fragrance i realised. Nonetheless, it did leave my face smooth like other scrubs, face dont feel tight too. Other than that, i dint really see any brightening effect etc, face dont look as smooth as compared to when i am using CURE. Just an average scrub i guess.

Tried it twice on face and i gave up haha. still preferred gel like textures exfoliator that are more gentle. I use this h2o+ scrub on my neck instead. =p

Verdict: 5/10 I wont fail it as it did its job as a scrub haha. If you're one of those who have to feel the beads to ensure yourself that you're really exfoliating, perhaps this scrub will be the one for u

Review: Skinvitals Spot-on Blemish Pen

heh after the wonderful experience with skinvitals T-purify mask, i believe their anti-spot formula works for me :) so i bought their spot-on blemish pen aka pimple gel! =p

its only 10ml, and it comes in a pen brush like design. bought it at $22.90, no discount for this blemish series :( still, its rather affordable. For skinvitals, they seldom have discounts on the blemish range, so if you happen to see sale etc, do grab it!

I dont really like the brush design cos i find it unneccessary, since i wil usually clean my hands b4 touching my face. the brush dont feel as flexible as my fingers lol. moreover, i find it abit hard to squeeze the gel out, with the pressure etc, its hard to estimate how much gel i still have in the tube..

it contains tea tree oil which helps to combat breakouts & clean the skin. salicylic acid is 1 of the key ingredients as well, with gentle exfoliating action, helping skin to slough off the top layer of dead skin & prevent pores fr clogging. rosemary, eucalyptus are found in the ingredient list too. almost all ingredient are similar to the t-purify mask, except salicylic acid. Orange oil, ginger oil and cinamon oil are present too. I seldom see tea tree and salicylic acid formula i realised.

Effects:
Pimples and red bumps shrink or even disappear overnight! At least this is true for me and friend lol. Its not too drying as well, no peeling etc, even i applied on consecutive days. Pretty mild but effective for my sensitive skin, at least it dint burn my skin or what. I've tried DHC, la roche posay etc pimple cream (im going to review them soon), but none work as well as skinvitals.

I've scarring problem all along. Bigger zits gave me red scars :( no matter what pimple cream i used, this problem persists, though i dint squeeze them or do anything funny to them. skinvitals dint help with my scarring problem, but i guess with an effective pimple gel, can reduce the chances of inflammation, and hopefully scar wont be as red.

Verdict: I am very satisfied with this pimple gel. Reasonably priced and really effective than all others that i've tried so far. 10/10

Bought this eye mask when i was crazy over skinvitals stuff a few months back.

managed to find those single pack ones at kovan watsons. they were selling for $2.95/pair. Its going at around $13.95 for 3pairs (box). As usual, they will be frequent discounts for skinvitals, so usually we should be able to get the box at $9.95.

skinvitals eye brighten (5ml) is an anti dark circles, brightening and invigorating cloth eye treatment mask. It contains vitamin C (bottom half of list) and licorice (5th on the list). From the ingredient list, I also see lemon extract, ginger root oil. No fragrance and alcohol.

Vitamin C has preservative and anti-oxidant properties, to moisturize, smooth fine line, boost the complexion and brighten skin tone. licorice known to have toning and firming qualities. it has soothing and rejuvenating benefits too.

Effects:
As usual, for eye masks that are in sheet form, they are found together in the packet, sticking onto each other, with no other plastic or what. So i've to separate them myself. I find it quite troublesome cos once i take them out, attempt to stick one of them on my eye area, I've got nowhere to put the other sheet. So i usually rest them on my leg oops. Maybe i should cut open the packet so that its wide enough for me to rest my the other sheet next time.

the mask is quite big so i tend to fold them half in case they touch my face and give me zits etc. This is one of the main reason why i prefer eye sheet mask cos i can fold them to whatever shape i want haha!

The mask is quite wet, but not to the extent of dripping all over my face. There is still quite alot of essence left in the packet after taking out the mask. I cant really detect any scent.

I leave them on for around 15min, and my eye areas are significantly brighter! They look hydrated, with one of my deeper dehyration line under my right eye 'disappearing'. I hope it will be gone forever haha. The mask dint give me any bumps like DHC's.

I massage in the remaining essence and they were absorbed in within seconds.

Verdict: Price 7/10, Effects 8/10

Im quite satisfied with the mask except for the price. I will probably repurchase when its on sale again or when i have more budget :)

Was crazy over hair products lately, after trying to hard to save my face, I reckon my hair deserved some attention from their owner too lol.

I am pretty lazy when it comes to hair care, I am one of those who does not use conditioner daily. Prolly because I think my short hair dont really need conditioner. Or to be exact, i dont have a conditioner lol. I mistaken my asience treatment as conditioner previously oops. This tells you how much concern I have for the hair on my head.

Well, I still think my face is more important than my hair, so I wont be spending hundreds on those hair treatments at salons etc. But I'll prolly spend a bit more on hair products say getting a conditioner real soon. =p

I've got myself hair essence, hair mask so far.

I'm going to do a product comparison on 2 of my pathetic hair products collection i've at home today.

Asience Hair treatment VS Skinfood Moisture Egg Hair Pack

Round 1: Price & size

Asience (180g) cost only about $12 while skinfood (200g) cost me $28!

Winner: Asience of course!

Round 2: Scent

I prefer Asience to be frank. But skinfood's scent is not too bad as well.

Round 3: Effects

I think this is the most important factor to most.

Asience: my hair was smooth and soft after usage.

Skinfood: Hair was smooth, but not as smooth as compared to asience. Dont feel soft too.

Overall winner: Asience! For that price, I guess its result is not too bad but I wanted something more for my frizzy hair seriously. Both products dint help my frizzy hair much. But if your hair is not as frizzy in the 1st place, I guess asience is worth trying. Skinfood hair pack is totally not worth that price in my opinion though I've heard quite a few raves for that product.

不管横看竖看，都是Asience 啦！Asience 180g 才S$12, skinfood 200g 卖 S$28 左右！差别太大了...

Round 2：香味

我个人会比较喜欢Asience 的.. 但Skinfood 的也不差。

Round 3: 效果

用完Asience，会觉得头发很柔软，很滑。Skinfood相对来说，差了一点，没那么滑，头发也似乎没那种柔软的感觉。

结果：Asience压倒性胜利！这样的价位有此效果是很不错，但我希望更好，因为两者对于我头上的一些翘起来的头发，那些一根根站起来的那种没有太大的改善。但若你的头发没有太大的杂毛，Asience应该是不错的选择，Skinfood就免了吧，太贵而且效果也不及前者。

Review: Brands InnerShine - Berry Essence VS Prune Essence

Got to know this berry essence through AY, or rather AY's mum, since it was her mum who bought it for her. haha. Its available at watsons, guardian & ntuc. 6 bottles cost $13.2, 12 bottles cost $23.90. They do sell both berries & prune tgt, 6 bottles each, at $23,90 too. Only the berry essence came in 12bottle package, the prune essence only haf it in 6.

Berry essence contains 7 types of berries, filled with anti-oxidants. There are vitamin A, C, E & zinc in this essence. It neutralizes harmful free radicals in the body and prevent degeneration of eye cells. In other words, its good for the eyes. No added coloring and preservatives.

This essence is 100% based fruit essence. I dont have the box with me, so dono whats the nutrition information. Ive tried 6bottles so far. first 4 bottles on consecutive days.

I only have the ingredient list stated on the bottle: Mixed berries essence Concentrate (Strawberry, chokeberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, cranberry, elderberry & acaiberry concentrate), fructose, maltodextrin, pectin coloring (shade magenta red from carrot and red cabbage concentrates), tri-sodium citrate dihydrate, ascorbic acid, zince, amino acid chelate, d-alpha-tocopherhol acetate, vitA

The prune essence is 100% based fruit essence too. I tried 7bottle. tried the 1st 6 bottles on consecutive days.

Its formulated to enhance overall inner well-being through the promotion of intestinal health, which in turn translates to clear, beautiful skin. It contains prebiotics (Oligofructose and Inulin) as well as fibre which promote a healthy digestive system, and Vitamin C, a key ingredient in maintaining skin elasticity and radiance. It also contains antioxidants naturally occurring in prunes – antioxidants protect cells from harmful free radicals in the body. One serving provides 12% of the body’s daily fibre needs and is perfect supplement to one’s diet. no added sugar, colouring or preservatives.

Ingredients stated on bottle: Prune juice concentrate, inulin, acacia gum, oligofructose, Vitamin C. The nutrition info is in the pic below.

Result:

Its rather easy to open the bottle but there was once when i cant open it! no matter how many times i turn, i still cant get it opened. in the end i got to use the fork to help me open it =.=

Its a little sour for the berry essence, and rather sweet for the prune essence. texture is not as liquid as i tot, berry essence is slightly thicker than the prune essence. i have to drink a cup of water after the essence because it left quite a uncomfortable atfer-taste i feel.

Comparing the nutrition info, it seems that the berry essence has more vitamins, but in a way, i also feel that its not so natural, the ingredient list is much longer than that of the prune essence! Do note that berry essence contains fructose while prune does not.

the recommended way to drink these essence is to take the berry essence in the morning, while the prune essence at night.

I dont take both on the same day, bcos thats rather expensive. i take one a day, usually before i sleep. I have it chilled 1st before drinking.

well, after a box from each, I think the prune essence seems to work better than the berry essence. My zits seem to heal faster when im drinking the prune essence. Im not sure if this is a coincidence or what, but i'll stick to this conclusion for now. Moreover, I think I've to take them at least a month to see more significant results to be fair.

I don't think I will be trying them soon again since I've other vitamins with me at the moment. I think these essence are great alternatives to other beauty supplements since I think they look 'safer' in a way? haha =p

Review: Juju Aquamoist Moisture Face Mask

I bought this mask when I was in tokyo, a box of 5 sheets cost me around $12 (800yen).

Each mask is 20ml, its available locally at Watsons, 5 for $19.50.

This mask has no coloring, fragrance, mineral oil and alcohol. Its mainly for hydration.

I tried this mask twice already.

Result:

Its moderately wet and mask is slightly big for my face. when i 1st use it, i thought i tore the upper lid area, but later i realise the mask is meant to be like that, with the upper lid area 'torn'. Actually with that area torn, I feel its easier for me to shift the mask.

After usage, I realised there is not a lot of essence left on face, as compared to other masks. Maybe its all absorbed in haha. My face feel hydrated but dont feel smooth enough. Face feel soft and hydrated the next morning.

when i apply skincare, my face seems cooled, but pimples still look red. as in its cold when i touch my face, though i dint put the mask in the fridge before usage, pretty comfortable.

Verdict: 6.5/10 For a sheet mask thats around $4, I certainly hope to see the mask giving me brightening effects etc. I don't think I will pay $4 for a mask thats for hydration only, so the points are mainly deducted for the unfriendly price.

Review: Galenic Toning Foaming Scrub

I bought this body scrub (150ml) at a guardian sale for $10 (usual $41).

This product is a combination of exfoliating particles of variable size and total ivy extract, to tone the skin and remove those dull dead cells whilst enveloping it in a lightweight yet unctuous cleansing foam.

Its contain sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) and fragrance.

Results:

The beads are bright green in color, quite pretty actually haha. They are very small in size compared to brands like st ives. Beads are really fine and gets really soapy while scrubbing. The beads are not too harsh. Fragrance is ok, not too strong as well.

Its best to use when the skin is slightly wet, i find it easier to exfoliate this way. After usage, skin is left really smooth and soft!

Verdict: 8/10 I dont see why its worth $41 seriously. 1 tube can probably last at least 4months when i use once a week. But i definitely don mind repurchasing if i can get it at $10 again haha.

They brought in new jap stuff again. this time round is kracie (under kanebo) masks! I saw them at Taka and J8. I reckon it should be available at other outlets too.

4 types: from left, its smoothing, Q10, Whitening & moisturising. They are selling at $18.90 per box. There is another type, the black color one for pores if i am not wrong.

I bought the moisturising mask during my grad trip. Tried one in tokyo so far. I shall try it again when I finished my other masks haha.

Happened to walk past ALT and realised they have alot of new skincare brands there!

1st floor: Counter brands such as ettusais (biggest outlet in sg), Paul & Joe, Make up store, Ossion (korean), Panadda (Thai) etc.

3rd floor: New Jap, Korean & Taiwan brands! They have the usual drugstore brands like avene, bio-essence etc too.

Koreans brands such as organia and 雪花秀..

They have Nature's Gate too.

Jap brands such as purenavi ( under kracie, kanebo) can be found there too. According to the lady there, this brand is famous for their cleanser. ALT brought in 5 types of cleanser, all priced around $10-$17 if im not wrong. They have a few other Jap brands too. Kate has a impressive collection there too. Nature & Co (below) is a sub brand under kose too.

They have several Tw brands too. The shills collection is huge too compared to sasa.

The best thing is there wont be many promoters following u around while you explore the new stuff :)

Review: Acne Patch ShowDown - Nexcare Acne Patch VS Cettua Trouble Clear Patch

Since im a sucker for zip zapper products, there is no way i will give these acne patches a miss! So who are the contestants today?

Nexcare Acne Patch (Ladies) VS Cettua Trouble Care Patch

Where to buy them?

Most of us out there should know we can get nexcare acne patches at the watsons & guardians locally. As for Cettua (Korean brand) patch, its available at sasa.com, ALT heeren and pink beauty (AMK outlet, refer to Beauty bargains label for directions to the shop ).

Round 1: Price

Well, for nexcare, 18 (6 big patches and 12 small patches) patches cost me about $4.80 while 48 cettua patches ( size is similar to nexcare big patches) only cost me $3.90.

Winner: The price diff is so big! Cettua is the winner for this round!

Round 2: Texture & Scent

Nexcare: yellowish and Spongy gel like patches that are comfy enough to leave it on skin overnight. i dint detect any scent too. Due to the texture, these patches may sometimes come off while i am slping.

Cettua: Transparent and plastic like patches that can be rather uncomfy if i paste too many of them on my face. I cant really smell the tea tree till i put the un-used patches in a box.

something to take note is i think it will be quite unglam if i were to paste nexcare patches on my face when im out. however, ive no problem with cettua patches since its transparent and as slim as 0.0000001 mm haha.

Winner: I think nexcare is more comfy compared to cettua. Cos cettua patches are 'flat', i feel that my skin wont be able to breathe with it since it sticks to my skin so closely.

Round 3: Effects

I've tried nexcare on red bumps (pimple that threaten to pop out the next day) and pimples with pus. Well, it did not work for my red bumps, they still look the same after 1 night, did not shrink in size too. But for pimples with pus, nexcare do help to suck the pus out. however if the pimples are big, i may need 2 or more patches to suck out all the pus.

Cos cettua stick too closely to my skin, i dint dare to stick them on my pimples with pus. I only stick them on those red bumps. Sometimes, it does shrink those bumps, only a little though. Probably due to the tea tree and salicylic acid in the patches. Though i paste them on bumps only, it actually hurt more than nexcare when i am removing them!

Winner: I think nexcare will be more effective for most pimples.

Overall: I declare nexcare as the winner for this showdown! haha. But frankly, i dint really think these patches are that useful actually. Nexcare is simply to expensive to use daily, or when ive more than 2 zits on my face at the same time. I think an effective pimple cream will be a better bet.

Alternative way to use these patches:

If u are one of those with itchy hands, likes to squeeze pimple etc, pasting these patches on our faces can probably prevent us from touching the zips, hence minimising the chances of irritation and so on.

Well im sure most people have seen this mask because it’s sold practically everywhere!! In supermarts, Watsons and guardian…

I started using this mask when I was slightly more well-to-do in 2nd yr of university. Previously it was known as “Deep Hydrating Mask” and offered the Vitamin C formula to help brighten my skin.

How you use it is the same as most sheet masks – leave it on for about 15-20minutes and then take it off without rinsing! And I must say that Deep Hydrating Mask was one of my top favourites, that I always had to snag as many as I could at Watsons when they had the 1 for $1.95 offers!! It always managed to replenish the moisture lacking in my skin and also give me a radiant, bouncy complexion for the next day, as though I had a very good day of sleep and in the pink of health!!

Some time last year/ early this year, Neutrogena decided to phase out the Deep Hydrating series and replace it with Hydro Boost skincare items for moisturizing skin. While I have read online about the products like moisturizer gel having strong fragrance, I did not experience this with the Hydro Boost masks (thankfully).

But not all is beautiful – I experienced breakouts using this mask. Thing to note here is that I have oily skin, probably a little dry in the cheek area from time to time, and I had many small little bumps thanks to Hydro Boost’s new formulation of the mask!! Was v disappointed in my purchase as I had spent money to buy the full priced box of 5 masks at $31.50 but had such poor results. ): as such, I concluded that the mask was too rich for people with oily skin like me and so I kept it aside…

Until I came back from Japan in May. For some perverse reason, my skin became so dehydrated from my 10 days trip there, that my old skincare stopped working well for me. I started to have bumps on my face, which were not the usual pimples filled with pus, but just bumps. I started to suspect that I have dry skin and after some time, I thought to myself that there was no harm trying out that super rich Hydro Boost that broke me out, since my face already has SO MANY bumps.

And so I did, and YES YES YES!! It finally worked for me!! Gave me smooth and soft skin, and helped my angry and stubborn bumps (which I assume are from dry skin!) to soften and shrink and now they are subsiding!! So I really conclude that this mask is really good for HYDRATING.

In terms of a glowing effect, I would say its predecessor does much better, perhaps thanks to the Vitamin C formula that brightens your overall appearance?? I don’t know what is it exactly, but definitely the previous formulation would make my classmates and friends go like “WOW you are GLOWING” unlike this one now, which jus softens and hydrates my skin. However this mask helped my skincare (after the mask) absorb into my skin beautifully, and so my skin got really well pampered over that one night, after nights of horrid dry bumpy skin!!

My rating for this would be 7.5/10 for hydrating effect, but not pocket-friendly price (if you get lucky you might get it at $2.95 sometimes as Watsons, but don’t count on it!), not brightening up my skin and also not making my face feel as bouncy as it would, unlike with the Deep Hydrating range.

Review: Klorane Slow Hair Growth

Has been using this cream on my legs for 4yrs already, ever since i started to wax. one tube cost around $15, can be found both at watsons & guardian. This brand seldom has 20% off, so i always grab a few tubes when there is a sale.

This is the only slow hair growth product i see in the local market. 1 tube can last me at least 3month, usually wont last more than 4months.

Result: this cream is quite watery, but i dono why its a little oily too haha. takes a while before it sinks in. The scent is not bad actually, not too strong. Well it does make hair growth slower haha. I am not sure if it helps to rid ingrown hair since i scrub wkly. Hair does look finer too. Made my legs smooth after usage. Quite moisturising since my legs dint flake etc when i use it in tokyo ( 20deg).

Verdict: 9/10 a little costly in the long run, but if your wallet can take it, why not haha.

Review: DHC Neck care patch Mask

Bought these neck masks when i was in tokyo in may. I got a box of 6 for around $13.

Well, I cant read Japanese so i don't know what ingredients are included.

Result:

These neck masks feel exactly like their eye masks seriously, spongy gel like texture. BUt its too short! cant cover up my neck.. and not sticking too well. I dint really smell anything so i guess its fragrance free.

After usage, i seriously think it din made my neck smooth enough for me to make a difference. 2 of my lines do look slightly lighter for a while, then its back to normal.

Well, i prefer my guardian neck masks! Patch masks are juz not my cup of tea.

Verdict: 4/10 i cant even tell if my neck is hydrated :(

Previously it was the new pore care wash, now its the new zero pore coat & Pore care serum :)

Zero pore coat (8g) is a clear make up base that absorbs sebum and control shine all day! Its oil free, fragrance free and colorant free. This can be wear alone (after make up base) or before foundation.

Pore care sebum is a medicated and moisturising serum that shrinks pore! It contains amino acid derivative to shrink pores, glycyrrhizinate to soothes imflammation, AC control oil to fight acne bacteria. Its fragrance and colorant free. Apply it before makeup and its suitable for both day and night use.

Another new product released is Aqua splash OB (40ml)! 1 sold every 6seconds in Tokyo! Its a spray that contains white porous powder to absorb sebum, chamomile to lower skin temperature to regulate and prevent excess sebum, mineral ingredients, 100% refined water. Review: Nature Repulic Aqua the Ocean By Tahiti Body Lotion

I bought this body lotion (240ml) quite sometime ago at the 313 outlet for about $18. The other outlet is at j8.

Loved the cute bottle :) They dont provide any ingredient list on the box and bottle, so there is no way to know the ingreditens. The SA told me its a water- based body lotion.

Result:

I really love how the nice scent from this lotion! Its a very refreshing scent. The lotion is rather light, easy to massage into skin too. But my skin dint absorb in fast enough i feel, nonetheless, my skin do feel moisturised and soft after usage.

Verdict: 8/10 Rather expensive if you compare to those drugstore brands. but i really love the scent and the cute bottle!

Review: Sephora Daily MakeUp Brush Cleaner

Bought this brush cleaner (60ml) at ion sephora 2 wks ago at $12. This is the only size available at ion, not so sure if this can be found at the taka outlet though.

This brush cleaner claims to contain an anti-bacteria agent, designed to quickly remove light traces of make up between applications.

So how do i use this cleaner? Spray it all over the bristles of the brush. Then gentle wipe brush onto a lint-free cloth to remove make up. Let the brush air-dry, need not rinse. Can be used daily.

Result: The cleaner smells ok, a chemical scent. I bought this cleaner for my lip brush since i think its best to clean them regularly. For convenience, i tot this spray cleaner will come in handy. I sprayed about twice onto my lip brush. Wipe clean with tissue rather than the suggested lint cloth. Lastly, i air-dry it after slight rinsing though the instructions stated that we need not rinse.

I cant really guage the cleansing powder of this cleaner since my brushes are for my lip balms and they have no color. but i dont really recommend it for bigger brushes. I doubt the cleansing liquid can reach those inner bristles and i will probably have to spray alot of times on them. Moreover, if its lip brushes, I think its better to rinse the brush since i will be using it on my lips, so the convenience of the no rinsing part dint appeal to me at all.

I found out other ways to use the cleaner as well. 1st I can spray the cleaner onto a tisse to make it damp, then i wipe the brushes with the tissue. I feel that i can reach the inner bristles better using this way. Alternatively, for those bigger brushes, I can pour abit of the cleaner into mini cups or containers, then rinse my brushes with it. Of cos my usage will be alot more if i were to use this way.

Verdict: 7/10 I find it approriate for smaller sized brushes such as the eye ones. As for the lips and those that are bigger, i think those usual ones such as the one sold at clinique counters ($41, think is 300ml?) will be cleaner and cheaper in the long run. Those who do not like to rinse their brushes, afraid that the metal thingy will get rusty or want their brushes to be clean daily etc, this cleaner will be suitable i guess.

I bought this remover as a package when i was in HK last month. Kinda disappointed cos it dint come in a pretty bottle. Hopefully the full sized item do.

Results:

It smells like the signature rose scent and has a cooling sensation when i was using it. Since it does not smell like the usual nail polish remover, this makes me pretty happy with it. It does not sting my fingers like some brands out there in the market too. It removes my nail colors quite easily, except for those with lotsa shimmers.

Verdict: 8.5/10 I may consider buying the full sized if the bottle is nice and reasonably priced.
